I find it ironic how Gen X applies to today's generation

By Gen X I mean those young adults and adults in the early 90's who were seen as having no future and no possible social security and no interest in anything. I feel like today's adults are a lot more Gen X then Gen Xers. Look around you in public and you'll see lots of people on their phones just walking around aimlessly. Then there's the great recession that makes the 1992 seem small. As things change, the more they stay the same

I went on a applying spree this morning

I started off with marie callender's at 7 30 am. It's better at that time since there was only 2 other people dining. Then I went to dollar tree and there was few people so I was in and out. After that I went to big lots and door warmed then handed my application to a shift manager. I hope I get a call back from any of those and in the mean time I'll apply at el pollo loco and trader joes

The wonder years 83 and 84

The 1st episode I saw was a good one, wayne is practicing for his SATs since he did horrible his first time out and he is apparently a senior. Meanwhile jack discusses his future with wayne and they come to a stand off when wayne doesn't want to go to college. Meanwhile kevin also thinks about college thanks to his guidance counselor  Rather then taking the SAT tests, wayne and wart decide to join the army. Everyone in the family is outraged and jack firmly protests the decision. Since wayne is 18 he is able to make his own choices and goes to take his physical. Wayne is rejected because of his back and wart is accepted. In the end we see wayne and kevin say goodbye to wart

The 2nd episode I saw was mostly forgettable. Kevin has a new gf named julie and she wants to control all aspects of his life while he wants to hang out with the guys. He meets the rest of the family and realizes the dad can't have any fun due to the controlling women. Kevin eventually breaks up with her and goes off to play football with the guys. Yep it was a cut and dry episode considering the one before it is really good.

Marie callender's is hiring according to snagajob

According to snagajob, they have open interviews so I called(marie calender's not snagajob) early this morning and the person who answered said they don't do open interviews. He also said you(I) have to come in and fill out an application and that's how they do things. According to marie calender's.com "We invite you to submit your application and interview for hourly positions at our open interview session on Thursdays from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM at all company operated restaurants"  so I will go tomorrow morning(they open at 7am) to fill out an application and hope for the best. Later this week I will turn in an application at big lots and dollar tree(my printer gets winded if I try to print too many things at once so I have to do them on a day by day basis)

My chiptole interview went well yesterday

I was expecting a one on one interview and it turned out to be another group interview. It wasn't a traditional interview and it was similar to sports where you ask the managers questions. I made sure to have a front row seat and ask lots of questions. They said if they liked you(there was 5 of us) then they would call you later that day to schedule an interview for the next day. I was like a 12 year old just waiting for a phone call that never came. Oh well, I'll look at target later and in the meantime I'll be hoping I get hired on therichest so I can buy a tablet and crank out articles at a quicker pace(they have a minimum quote per month). I think I didn't get the call because there was 2 other guys that have food experience. It's not beneath me to work fast food and I have applied at 7 mcdonalds before and some carl's jr and jack in the box and del taco and taco bell and in n out. I have only gotten 1 call for an interview at 1 mcdonalds and that interview went horrible

The wonder years 79-82

The first episode I saw was about the class difference between the arnolds and the pfeiffers. Paul's dad alvin, makes a killing on some beach front property so he goes on a shopping spree. Kevin realizes that things are different between the 2 families especially when he meets paul after his prep school. At the country club, norma proposes a toast for the pfeiffers good fortune. Alvin spills the beans and reveals he lost everything.  The arnolds console him and later that night paul and kevin patch things up. Paul mentions he is going to mckinley high with kevin and winnie(who has hardly been in season 5 so far).

The 2nd episode is about kevin getting his driver's license. At driving school, kevin is a natural with driving except for parallel parking. Jack lets him drive and kevin chokes when he has to park between 2 cars. At the dmv kevin can't handle the stress and leaves without taking his test. His parents and brother throw him a mini party with cake for getting his license. Jack even gives him a pair of keys to the family car. Kevin makes up some lame excuse of his license being in his other wallet in his other pants since apparently in the early 70's you would get your plastic license the same day. Kevin decides to sneak out at night to take the car to practice parking however he backs into the lawn mower he forgot to put back. Jack sees him and takes him to practive. Kevin finally passes and gets his license then gets it taken away for one month.

The 3rd episode I saw was about kevin's grandpa and his car. Grandpa albert calls from the police station saying that he was in an accident. Apparently his eyesight is so bad that he hit a parked car which doesn't explain why he's in a police station. Jack doesn't want him driving but albert is stubborn and insists on driving everywhere while his license is suspended. Albert wants kevin to drive him back home so they go off on their journey. Albert wants to stop at a lot of little stores and half way through the trip he takes the wheel. Albert gets distracted by his memories and almost crashes the car. He realizes that he is getting to old to drive so he sells his car to kevin for $1 and kevin is happy to have his own car. He will always remember his first car because it was his grandpa's last

The 4th episode I saw was about kevin's new english teacher. She's young and fresh out of grad school and has weird teaching methods. She encourages her students to be creative and lets the students choose what grade they deserve in the class. Jack is upset because kevin can only get a Pass or a No Pass and wants him to get a normal grade. The school principal gives miss shaw a choice of continuing to teach the class but she must follow state policies or find another teaching job. She decides to quit suddenly.

The wonder years season 76-78

The first episode I saw was about kevin getting cut from the football team so he tries soccer. The guys agree that he has a nice kick so he gets a spot on the team. It turns out the team is really really bad. Kevin even makes a suggestion to the coach that the team can learn some plays but he seems disinterested. Somehow this all happened without playing a game so when the big day finally comes, kevin makes a inspirational speech about the team. The coach is perked up and finally shows some interest in the game, however kevin's team still loses.

The 2nd episode I saw was about jack's birthday dinner and karen. Norma decides to invite karen and micheal(david schwimmer) as a way to smooth things over. This episode feels forced and tacked on. The dinner consists of jack getting mad at karen and her making drama over little things such as meat. Things have a happy ending and they make up and kevin realizes that jack doesn't need presents, but his daughter's well being.

The 3rd episode I saw was about the arnold's annual christmas party. Things just aren't the same as less people are going with winnie cooper being the most noticeable. This episode is really forced and is ok to be skipped over. The few guests that do show up have some weird quirk like one that smokes mj in the basement and one that has whopping cough and one that brings his new young girlfriend to show off to his ex wife. Kevin and wayne have to pick up some more sodas for the party. When they come back they find jack and norma in front of the fireplace. Kevin realizes the old days are gone and this was the last time they had their christmas party.

I got an email from chiptole and also the SNL marathon

and so I got an interview on saturday the 21st at noon just like that. Anyways onto snl. I been watching the marathon since it premiered, is it me or do they cut about the musical performances? I was looking foward to seeing nirvana just as the show happened in the early 90's. Phil hartman is great and is truly missed as is chris farley. Last weekend I spent the whole 2 days watching SNL and I didn't change the channel. Those early 90's episode are the best and you can tell the cast had a lot of fun together. The first few seasons were alright

I made a photography portfolio

And the pictures in the portfolio are my culmination of 2 years of photography and photoshop experience. I hope this leads to something, in the meantime I'll keep editing pictures

The wonder years 73-75

I was finally able to watch the wonder years again. Anyways the first episode I saw was about the cool couple at school named frank and denise. She gives a powerful poem in class and kevin feels moved by it. He becomes a go between for the couple during some rough spots. Eventually denise falls for kevin and frank breaks up with her. Frank blames kevin but he realizes it was his fault so he goes to the drive thru where denise works to make up with her. To make a long story short, they get back together and get married after high school

The 2nd episode I saw was about getting a driver's license. Kevin is a sophmore in high school and one guy in his group of friends is getting his driver's license. Despite the fact they all look and sound like 12 year olds, one of them is studying to get his license. Ricky passes it and the guys all make plans to go for a cruise on friday night so kevin has to dump his date with a fake excuse that his grandma has liver problems. She agrees to take a rain check and the guys go out for a night on the town. The gang gets mooned by some guys in a mustang and decide to go to a drive in fast food place. Kevin runs into his "date" at the drive in and she gets mad at him for his obvious lies. The gang meets up with the same guys in the mustang and they get challenged to a race. When the light turns green, ricky decides to accelerate slowly as the speed limit is 35 mph. As the gang is closing up on the next red light, everyone except for kevin decide to moon the people in the car next to them. Kevin ducks because it's his parents and the guys have a good laugh. They run out of gas and the gang decides to do it again next friday night

The 3rd episode I saw was about wayne's new girlfriend. She changes him completely and he is nice to kevin for once. During a movie, wayne gets up to use the restroom and sandy kisses kevin. They have a secret relationship while sandy is still with wayne. Kevin is torn up about his brother. The school dance is coming up and kevin asks a girl who rejects him, wayne also gets rejected then dumped by sandy who wants to go with kevin. Now kevin is at a crossroads, he can go to the dance with his brother's ex or not go at all.  Kevin decides to console his brother instead while sandy goes to the dance with a different guy

My interviews went pretty good and kday

I know I'm posting this entry 2 1/2 days after the interviews but hey it's my blog. Anyways they went pretty good and I got a free soda at chiptole. As always I hope to get a callback. My kday was semi disapointing. I was hoping to get a homer car and a batmobile and a 63 corvette from fast and furious(the one dom and brian fall into the water with). I ended up with a homer car(not a bad consolation prize) and a treasure hunt car. This time I looked around at all the shelves and assumed this would be my last time in a kmart because you never know when it will finally go out of business. As sad as it sounds, kmart is in really bad shape. In the 90's it was bigger(not size wise) then walmart and now it's struggling to compete with big lots

I have an interview at an airsoft gun store tomorrow

I applied last week after I saw the CL ad and I got an email today to call to schedule an interview if I was still interested. So I did call and I have an interview at 5:30pm tomorrow. I also have a chiptole interview and this sets a most interviews in a day record for me. As always, I hope I get a call back from one of the interviews and I could use the luck

Chipotle is having a hiring fair tomorrow morning

The one on telegraph and carmentia, be sure to actually fill out an application in the CL link. It goes from 8am to 11am and I'll be there early
Here's the link

Why I haven't posted a new entry in days

Well I am doing alright so it's not like I was in the hospital or something. I applied at therichest.com last month and I got a reply back on monday(during my zoo trip). I have to write 3 articles(I get paid for them too) and if my stuff is good enough then I'll be a full fledged staff writer. Would that be considered a real job? I'm not sure but I am taking it seriously so I been writing non stop since tuesday. I'm 1/4 done with my 2nd article which is why I am typing this on a friday night. Right now I am taking a break to watch SNL on VH1 Classic. Is it me or do they cut out the musical performances?

The LA Zoo gave me 90's nostalgia

Since the last time I went to the zoo was in the 90's. The property hasn't changed much except for some taller trees and some animals got relocated. By property I mean the acreage is still the same as when I was little. Walking past the gates and it was major deja vu and I almost felt like I went through a time warp. The seal tank was in the exact same location as was the cave structure(the seal tank was closed though). The gift shops were in the same locations as were the flamingos and I'm sure their wasn't mallards and swans last time I went but the mini pond is the same. The LAIR is new and when I went it was a bigger building that housed nocturnal animals, which was one thing I hoped would still be around but alas time travel isn't invented yet(It will be in oct of this year). The giant snake and alligator and gecko statues weren't around but they make for good photo ops. I don't remember the aviary being around in my 1st visit but it was pretty nice and I half expected a dinosaur to pop out.

I was looking foward to the rainforest of the americas and that didn't disappoint. I'm not sure what it was before but it is streamlined and ties the animals together. I loved the toucans and the sea otters but I was disappointment with the goliath spider. It seemed to be hiding really really well or it was out for a nap. The one big difference I noticed is that there was no peacocks walking around everywhere and no shrieking from them. I only saw one and it was on the tram tour and it was in a backlot area.

The more things change the more they stay the same, I unintentionally wore my jordan jersey(it still fits me) just like during my last visit. I'm glad the LA Zoo hasn't changed much over the years. I hope it's not a long time before I go again as I didn't get to see the polar bears or the seals or the tigers. The pictures are un photoshopped.

I have spent the last 4 days applying at places

That explains my sabbatical from this blog and on going one from facebook(I actually plan on returning to fb once I get a job). The one positive of note is that I applied at dollar financial group and got an email yesterday about doing a survey in order to complete my application. So I worked on that last night(I went to the zoo during the day) the survey was about 30-45 mins long and had simulations about situations you would encounter. There was standard math and personality questions. Like always, I hope I get a call back. Sometime this week I will turn in an application at dollar tree and big lots and trader joes so I can use the luck. Anyways here's a unphotoshopped picture of the flamingos at the aviary. Back to checking my usual places and I may or may not keep retro fridays/saturdays because I rather focus on getting a job. I still have lots of 90's and 00's material to post so it's not like the well is running dry
