Depression is not what it seems

First off I like to clear up some common misconceptions about depression. Being depressed doesn't mean you can't have fun or smile. Some days feel better then others and it's not always doom and gloom. Kurt cobain is a good example of this. He was/is known as the troubled brooding artist who was in constant pain but he enjoyed goofing off and pranking his friends. When you feel down or have a bad day then you feel better the next day or in a few hours, that is not depression, that's just a bad day or mood.

Depression is a state of mind that stays longer then a few hours or days. It's not a "Oh I'm having a bad day, I'm depressed" type of thing.

Another missed opportunity

I just missed a call from jc portrait studio earlier today, so how did I miss it? well my mom likes to talk to her sisters a lot on the phone since we have unlimited calling throughout the U.S. My mom doesn't know how to use call waiting and jc penny called when she was on the phone. She didn't tell me they called and I only knew because I checked the call log(we have caller ID) around 7pm because I was bored. After some googling, it legitimately was JCP that called. By the time I got to phone log checking, JCP was closed so i couldn't call them.

I will try calling tomorrow morning/afternoon and hope that the position hasn't been given to someone else because fate likes taunting me. In the meantime my registration did get accepted at chiptole for national career day on sept 9. I presume this means I have an interview with them at the whittwood location. Yes I already went there earlier this year for a group interview but if it's like the hiring event chipotle had in 2012. Then it will be 1 on 1 interviews where I can stand out more then in a 30+ group interview.

Chipotle is having a national hiring day on sept 9th

I think they call it an event, anyways it's on sept 9th which is a wednesday. It runs from 8am to 11am and you have to register here which I did. I got an email that said there would be more information coming so I'll be waiting by my virtual mailbox. I assume that sept 9 will be interview day but i'm not quite sure

Retro fridays and fear factor

If your not familar with it, fear factor was a game showed that ran from the late 90's or early 00's to mid 00's. Each contestest had to do the same challenge to advance, there was 3 challenges to win the money but if were free to walk away at any time in case you don't want to face your fear.

I remember the wwf's hardy boyz taking part and of course the madagascar hissing cockroaches. Who could forget the roaches, they were so big and often times the contestents had to eat them or lay in a box with them. There was also the eat something nasty part that is fondly remembered. The show is not something you want to watch when your eating

Retro fridays and swishy clothes

Is there anything that screams 1990's more then swishy clothing? So what is swishy clothes? It was most commonlya starter jacket or gym pants that made a loud swish with any little movement. It would even make noise when other people would look at your clothes. But that's what was cool in the 90;s. I can almost here the sound and it's been years since I heard it

Very quick update on me

I applied just now at petco so yes I do hope I get it since I love doggs and kats and mice and hamsters and parrots and parakeets. I turned in an application at big lots on my bday like I said I would(I spoke to the manager and she said they were hiring) so I hope I get a call back from lotbigs. In the meantime I got some bday presents from a good friend of mine(green tea mints) and that person said there was more to come so I'm hopeful not just about job interviews

My minecraft pe town Part 2

I finally got around to the 2nd post, this is my underwater house that is close to my main/first house and they are connected by tunnel. Part 1 is here, anyways this continues of the fork that leads to the underground lake in part 1. Yes I will continue with a part 3 eventually as I have finished my mansion

You are now underwater in a tunnel that leads to my sand castle house which isn't much of a house

But I do have one room which has a small pond and a bed in case I want to sleep with the fishes

The outside of the water house and yes only part of it is underwater

Retro saturdays and aol instant messenger aka aim

AIM is something that I have a long history with. Ok it's not that long but It does seem like it. I first got aim when my dad signed us up for AOL back in 2002. I remember going to the various chatrooms(I still have a screen cap printed out) and lots of people would always ask to cyber and what my ASL was. My dad got rid of AOL but I still kept my aim account so I just dl'd aim. This is where things took off,    I was extremely popular and had lots of friends. I would always make sure I had the perfect away message

The cool kids always made sure to be away all the time but somehow they could still talk to you. I'm not sure how they did that ghost phantom talking but it was neat. The last stand of my aim days was when I got my first laptop and I got trillian. I kept it for 2 years then that laptop broke so I got another one but decided not to install trillan because not many people
Were using it. From time to time I would log into aim express then ebuddy and I would do that now but I'm not sure if they still work

Retro saturdays and the sega genesis

Ok first I want to say that it is called a sega genesis and not just a sega like every other person seems to do. Ok now that I got that out of the way, I grew up with a super nintendo but I had cousins that owned a genesis 2 and sonic 2 and tmnt hyperstone heist and street fighter 2. Everytime I was at their house I would play sonic 2 and sf2 so much and I never got bored of them. I wanted my own genesis I almost traded my snes for their's.

I finally did get one in 2002 and I was extremely happy. I owned sonic 2 and sonic knuckles and sega 6 pack and I don't remember what else. Oh yeah sonic blast. Sadly I didn't have it for very long as my dad put it in storage then threw it away no reason since he throws away people's things without asking and he thought it was a vcr that didn't work.

Happily i did get a sega nomad which is a portable genesis and which I'll cover in another post. In the meantime I am lusting after a genesis 3 because of it's small size but the genesis 2 does have nostalgia factor

Retro fridays and nintendo's play it loud

Play it loud was a marketing campaign by nintendo that ran in the mid 90's. It was done to spice up the gameboy and the super nintendo as they were both showing their age at the time. Nintendo decided to 90's up their ads by using random words with random spacing and teens with coloful hair and big letters and exclamation points because nothing screams extreme more then a !

I remember the Donkey Kong Country one for some reason and the gameboy one. Yes the play it loud was also an excuse to bring out different colored gameboys

Retro fridays and casio calculator watches

Calculator watches are something that scream 1990's as anyone who grew up in that time will tell you. I got one when I was little for $10 and it was brand new. I still have mine and always get compliments on it which is side tracking me. These were the smartwatches(and phones) before they were invented. There are some that could take down a memo and store phone numbers and remind you of something at a certain time on certain days each year. Some of them even had fm radios and could make phones calls and this was in the early 90's. This is why I love these kinds of watches

Gay guys give me confidence

Ok first off I have a k.cobain like build so I am extremely self conscious. Since it's 2015 and not 1992, it is more acceptable to be gay. This is more noticeable at gyms and in public. For example I could go to a public shower and someone will be checking me out and giving me compliments. Instead of being insecure I could have more self confidence since I have the perfect body type that gay guys like

I been on a school supply buying binge

It all started about 3 weeks ago when I randomly checked the big lots ad, I saw spiral notebooks aka journals for 17 cents and composition books for 47 cents so I got 4 spiral notebooks and a composition book.  It doesn't end there, I went to office depot on a sunday and got 3 boxes of 1 cent pencils and 50 cent lead pencils(not pictured) and I lost count over how many 25 cent notebooks I bought.

The next week I got about 4 sharpie markers(they aren't pictured) for 25 cents each and the bic pens for 50 cents each. Some of the spiral notebooks are from walmart(17 cents each) and target(also 17 cents each) and 2 of the composition books are from target(50 cents each). The paper folders are from office depot for 1 cent each among with the paper. That's not all though, today I got some pencil head erasers from staples for 25 cents. I ended up with 13 spiral notebooks that I will use as journals adding to my current count of 6 so I have 20 journals

Kelly staffing services gave out my information

To other job websites and I'm pretty sure at least 2 of them are scam sites. They offer jobs that are entry level and have really good pay. Anyways the sites are:startwire, jobstand and beyond.com

Do not sign up for a profile at these sites or upload your resume. They want your phone number and money. Luckily for me I have caller id and I can ignore a call from a certain number

It is frustrating because I had high hopes for a writing job in norwalk but it turned out to be faker then 300. Anyways I'll go to the 99 cents store and big lots in 2 or 3 days as planned. Thanks to the vaffiene from the free iced coffee from panera bread I am really needing a hug

A quick update on me

I been getting emails from zip rectruiter and get photography jobs about positions that are open. Thanks to the ac(it's probably 94) I was able to apply at jcpenny's as a studio photographer aka where you get your family picture taken that one time when your 6. Kelly staffing servcies(I think I may have gotten that backwords) is hiring a product photographer which is my expertise.I can almost hear the heavenly choir now. I take pictures of various small things in a box I lined with paper and then use a aquarium light to get even light. The majority of my flickr account is made up of pictures of my hot wheels that were shot in a product photography type of manner(white background, good lighting). As always I hope I get a call back

My birthday is on thursday(aug 20th) and I don't want to say my age since I'll feel like a loser. On my bday I plan on job hunting and wondering where my life went. I already have it planned out. I'll get up early and walk to the bus stop while listening to happy birthday to me by the vandals. I'll go to the 99 cents store in pico rivera whle timing it right so I can door warm. I'll turn in an application and check out the hot wheels.

After that(I'll get a day pass) I'll take another bus back to my town then I'll getr off at a big lots where I'll get some school supplies and turn in an application. I also might go to dollar tree across the street to get a pouch case for tablets. Depending on my hw finds or how I am feeling,I'll stop by the whittwood center to get a free cupcake from panera bread(you get one free on your birthday). I been wanting to do this since I saw it but this year I'll plan ahead and get a candle from the 99 cents store.

No it's not sad to cry on your birthday all while your alone and the tears go into the frosting, not sad at all. I forgot to mention but august 20th is also the bday of demi lavoto and it's close to frances cobain's bday

Retro saturdays and sailor moon

Growing up I used to watch sailor moon when it was on around 5 or 6am every day. Yes it was dubbed into english and yes I am a guy that used to watch a girls show. Yes back then you would get beaten up for watching sailor moon as the world was a lot less tolerant and pc.

Anyways for some reason I don't remember much of sailor moon, I can only remember the catchy theme song(fighting evil by moonlight) and the talking cats and the transformation sequences. Apparently this is enough to give me nostalgia

Retro fridays and killer instinct 1

Killer instinct was a fighting game that was released in arcades back in 1994. Everything about it totally screams 90's from the amp'd up announcer providing combo commentary(ULLLLLLLLTRRRRAAAAA) to the music(my fave is orchid's) to the types of characters. I rented it a few times on the snes but the sound and graphics could not compare to the arcade version

Even today, the arcade version holds up really well and it's hard to believe it's from 1994. If you play it, be sure to try out the arcade version first as the snes version is scaled down and the gameboy version even more so

Retro fridays and ultìmate mortal kombat 3

Why umk3? I believe that it was everywhere when it was released in 1995 especially on home systems. I remember the first time I played it I was blown away. The cabinet has killer skeleton artwork and the sound is amazing. I wasn't a mk noob but the best thing to me was that smoke was a normal playable character. The little kid version of me enjoyed playing as scorpion and ermac and classic subzero. It later came out for the playstation and sega saturn so I didn't think I would ever get to own the game

But one month i read in egm that umk3 was coming to my little super nintendo and sega genesis. I was so happy that this new game was coming out on the outdated system I owned. I rented it twice and obviously could not afford it on a little kid's salary of selling candy.

Eventually I did get it for my 2nd snes in 2002 and I was extremely happy. I realized how a killer arcade game could be toned down for the snes but I didn't care. I was and still am good with robot smoke and scorpion

Round 1 says they are hiring

Ok here's the backstory, I was job hunting pretty hard since the caffeine from the free coffee from panera bread was hitting me. The job board at the puente hills mall website says round 1 arcade is hiring and that they are always hiring. Well that's all it says and doesn't have any links so I googled round 1 jobs and went to the careers section. Here's the fun part, it says they aren't taking applications(try it yourself) so I went gahhh.

Linkedin didn't turn out much better and actually made me feel worse, almost every job requires years of experience and/or a bachelors degree and/or know everything about everything.

Craigslist also made me bummed out because there is this sandwich shop that has good working hours but of course I can't get to it even by bus(I don't drive), yet however I still managed to apply at a photoshop gig (putting certain text on pictures and saving as a jpg) and I also applied at micheals.

Micheals has a personality quiz that's 12 pages long and goes by pretty quick and painless. After this I still have a few jobs to apply at from snagajob then sometime this next week I'll go to the 99 cents store in pico rivera to turn in an application. After that I'm not sure what to do as I currently feel like I hit a wall in life pretty hard with no way out

A very quick update

Burlington coat factory (at the quad in whittier) is hiring seasonal cashiers so I applied. It's pretty straightforward and there are 2 personality surveys that go by fast.

I been minecrafting on my galaxy tab 3 lite, I spend most of the time working on the mansion I made. Yes I will post pics eventually. I also keep busy by editing the music I got(it's a pain when every song has the artist's name in the file) oh yeah I updated minecraft pe to 0.11 (I been playing 0.8) and the differences are huge.

There is a day night cycle, more animal eggs, more variety in the flowers and new blocks. The biggest change is that your not just limited to your "box" world and you can play infinite just like on the PC. You can keep your old world and convert it to infinite which I haven't done.

I can't wait till 0.12 is released on android or even 0.13. Anyways I will keep applying at places on snagajob and turn in an application at big lots sometime this week

Retro saturdays and tekken 2

Why tekken 2? I believe it's the pinnacle of the series and the one I have spent the most time with.  I'm not sure when i got it but i remember spending hours trying to unlock every character and ending. I am really good with Roger/Alex,  jun and Marshall law. There's just something about this game that draws you closer.

The tigers playoff run seems to be over

Yes I'm talking about the DETROIT TIGERS. If you haven't noticed, they are currently in 3rd place, 5 games behind the 2nd wildcard team(blue jays) and 11.5 games behind the royals. It feels like they been in the playoffs every season this decade(the 2010's) but they have only been in it in 2011,2012,2013 and 2014. That's an impressive run that is sadly coming to an end for various reasons.Mostly because of justin verlander turning into jeff weaver(I'm sorry jeff), miguel cabera finally getting injuired and the loss of good pitchers.

Last year's ALDS for the tigers was an eye opener and who would have thought that was the last stand for the team.

Retro fridays and smashing pumpkins

Smashing pumpkins are one of those bands like nirvana that instantly make me feel like it's 1994 when I listen to them. I base this all of the melon collie album though and not their later work. The song zero sounds full of teen angst in a good way, I'm not sure why but you can feel the 90'sness of it. 1979 is another song that gives me strong nostalgia. Maybe it's because I grew up in a time when malls used to exist and were populated with crowds of people, but it used to be on all the store muzik's and on the radio a lot. It reminds me of a simpler time when we weren't so paranoid.

When I was little I also used to go to my friend's house to have a sleep over. His mom would take us to play laser tag(remember that?) in her white 1989 ford taurus while we were hyping ourselves up for the fun that was about to be unleashed. The game was good but it's not where the memories were made, no it was after all the laser tagging. On the way back his mom would ask us if we want pizza and to our little kid selves it was like heaven. Of course we never said no and many hours were spent driving to and from the laser tag arena while listening to 1979 by smashing pumpkins.

California has mild winters so a lot of evenings feel summer like during the drives. Off topic but we used to play a lot of super nintendo at his house which I'll mention in another post. Ok back on topic, 1979 just has the laid back summer vibe that makes you want to cruise around in the evening and wish you were a little kid again and then you wonder what your doing with your life and if you should have done anything different. Ok those last 2 are just me.

Here's the 1979 video

The video for zero

Retro fridays and the mask

I first saw this movie when an aunt of my mom brought it over(vhs days) telling us we have to see this jim carey guy. So we all watched it together and it was different. I loved the dog milo and the cartoony way stanley ipkiss acts when he has the mask on. The dance the mask did with tina(cameron diaz) is great(she also looks amazing in her film debut). The movie was so popular it spawned a cartoon show that sucked and a sequel called son of the mask which also doesn't hold a candle to the original. Yes the movie still holds up and if not for the cars, it is a timeless setting

I got free coffee from panera bread

for the month of august, it's one per day with my choice of an iced coffee or a brewed coffee. I'm not sure why I got one free all month but I'll take it. However thanks to my kurt cobain like build I am also sensitive to caffeine in the matter bray wyatt to the husky harris chants. Ok I think I have free coffee as a thank you from PB for being a long time card holder( since 2011 or 2012). I will go tomorrow to try out the hot coffee and then stop by office depot to get some pens for 50 cents(a box of 10). After that I will throw a pity party for myself thanks to the caffeine

Then I will job search on linkedin and try CL then feel hopeless (caffeine again). then wonder where my life is going then listen to songs about break ups for some reason. Anywho of course I'm frustrated with job hunting and I got a haircut today just in case I get a SURPRISE CALL FOR AN INTERVIEW

Disney Channel brought back hannah montana

At least on demand which ended up being ironic because back in 2012 & 2013 I was already missing the show & held out hope it would return for reruns . Yes I like the show dont judge me. My favorite episodes are from around 2007 to 2008. It gives me strong nostalgia to see how miley cyrus used to be so innocent and different.  I remember how strong the hm fad used to be, it was bigger then frozen. While miley may change in real life, on the show she's lovable miley stewart

Just some minor updates

Today I realized how often the OCTA 129 bus goes to the brea mall so I could apply at stores there. Which I intend to do because I keep getting newsletter type emails from getphotographyjobs.com about picture people in the brea mall. PP is a photography studio similar to the type you would go to at sears, so I will apply there later on today. Yes I have experience shooting in a mini studio, also I understand lighting and ISO(I practice the fundamentals) and I would shoot around 400-800 ISO range.

Anyways I been busy putting videos on my sister's tablet because she is a little menace and deleted most of them. So guess who has to search for them and put them on again? yep you guessed right it's criss angel who has to do it. I keed, it falls down to me because my parents aren't very good with technology.

I have another tablet I bought just to sell that my friend already spoke for, which I am putting videos and apps on it and some of my pictures(shameless self pandering) that all takes up quite a bit of my time. I also went to the swap meet this past saturday and I been editing some of my pictures on my galaxy tab 3 with  snap seed so there goes a lot of my time. I have been saving jobs on snagajob that lead me to end up with a big backlog of TO APPLY that I will take care of one by one.

So I will try to get a haircut (I have tom cruise MI2 hair right now) just in case I have a sudden interview and I will keep on applying at places and hope for the best

Continuing about break ups and the depressing songs

I mentioned in my previous post about break up songs that I made it seem almost fun, well one thing I want to do is go all out in case I ever get a gf then get dumped.  I was watching the drew carey show earlier and in the episode he has cyber sex with me only she doesn't know it's him and vice versa. When drew finds out whose on the other end there is a scene cut to him in the shower crying while sitting(he has he glasses and clothes still on).  That is one thing I want to do when I'm in a sad mood among with wondering where my life went and wondering if I am going to be single the rest of my short life.

Also I want to have treat myself to lots of fast food and ice cream and sit on the couch all day and feel completely hopeless.

Anyways here's some songs about break ups

Don't speak by no doubt
Love hurts by nazareth
Fall back down by rancid
Dismantle me by the distillers
My happy ending by avril lavigne
Punk rock love by the casualties
Since u been gone by kelly clarkson
My immortal by evanescence
You know your right by nirvana(even though it's about suicide)
Mushy love song by tsunami bomb
Story of my life by social distortion(about a sad life)
