Offer up is getting full of overpriced sellers

Maybe it's just my area(southern california) but everytime I try to look for something reasonably priced, it seems like people think what they are selling is worth gold

For example I saw someone selling a 4gb well used flash drive(it was empty) for $20 and a broken nintendo 3ds for $150 and broken 7inch generic tablets for $70. That's just off the top of my head and what I most remember

But the point is obvious, these sellers want to get rich or seem to think a buy it now price on ebay is what their stuff is worth. They have all had the things listed for months because no one is buying at those prices

I been using offer up since january and it's a great app and I made some fast sales simply because I sell my things at a good price and I am open to negation, I don't think my beat up flash drive is worth 6 times what I paid for it in 2009

Retro saturdays and overalls

I'm not sure why overalls were a fad in the early 90's but they sure had popularity. Even I wore some back in kindergarten and I almost peed in them because they are hard to get off especially for my little kid fingers

Wearing only one strap made you cool and gangsta, well as gangsa as one can be while wearing overalls. They quickly went out of style and gave way to jnco jean shorts

I hope they do make a comeback as I am ready

Retro fridays and bucket hats

Made famous by christina aguilera and scotty 2 hotty, a bucket hat was a must have item for the trendy person in the late 90's to early 00'

Think of a fedora but with the brim pulled down and a flat top and you have the idea of what a bucket hat is. It looked good on a few people like mandy moore or christina aguilera or scotty 2 hotty

However it was quickly overblown then it ended

Retro fridays and visors

Ah visors, once a staple of late 90's and early 00's among with bleached blonde hair and an earing. They quickly went out of style and back to the golf course

Visors are hats that have the top and most of the back parts removed so the majority of the hat is in the front. These are usually find in the game of golf although I'm not sure why. In the late 90's to early 00's it was cool to wear one but only if it was backwards and upside down so the hat part was pointed up

I'm glad it went out of style

Crossovers are the new mini vans and not masculine

I'll start off with that it is not more "cool" to buy a crossover over a mini van, it is actually the opposite. Buying a crossover just makes you look lame and like your over compensating for something by worrying too much about what other people think of you

In today's times, crossovers are driven by soccer moms that bring the already low "coolness" of one down. So it is deliciously ironic to say you prefer a honda crv when it is the mommymobile of choice. Further more a crossover isn't that great on gas nor space(they are really cramped)

They look like a bigger toyota matrix with small windows that scream "look how hard I'm trying to be cool" unlike other people, I would never drive a cross over and instead I prefer a full size van or a mini van or even a station wagon

Retro fridays and game.com

Game.com is not a website(maybe it is, I haven't tried it) but a portable video game console by tiger electronics. It came out in the mid 90's to compete against the gameboy. Yes it's that tiger electronics that also made giga pets and those handheld licensed games that have extremely limited gameplay and 1 static screen

Anyways the console itself is not backlit or front lit like the gameboy pocket but it does have more big names like resident evil 2 and mortal kombat trilogy and fighter's megamix and duke nukem and the lost world jurassic park

The bad part is the extremely choppy framerate and watered down gameplay that ruins these AAA games and what lead to the downfall of the game.com

It was ahead of it's time thanks to the web browser and email program but it didn't nudge the needle much and it quickly went down to $19.99 then 9.99 in price

I have never owned one but I do hope to find one for cheap

Retro fridays and marilyn manson

I remember when mm was the biggest musical act back in the early 00's and it was cool to like him because it automatically made you cool. His sound was nu metal which sounded more like soft rock

That is incredibly ironic because mm and his fans have a "dark" image and the music is really soft and parent friendly and not explicit at all. However I still got made fun of for not liking mm even though I am into black metal

MM's album covers and cardboard displays give me strong nostalgia as I used to see them everywhere among with "goth" girls wearing MM shirts

The mechinal animals cover used to be extremely common too and it threw me off

I'm about to eat some doritos 3D

Yes doritos 3D still exist and in case your wondering, they are sold in mexico. When my mom went to mexico I asked her to bring me some since it's the only thing I wanted. So here is a picture as proof

It's 2016 and here I am eating doritos 3D, it's a big deal because in the usa they stopped being made in the early 2000's. Lost to nostalgia and over priced ebay auctions, I can make the gummi crunch again

Which is biting the corner of a 3D chip and putting a gummy bear then eating it, I got the idea from game informer magazine in 2002. I really hope other long gone food products come back to mexico like lunchables taco bell, sobe mr green, frosted cheerios and crystal pepsi

Retro saturdays and creed my sacrifice

Creed was a one hit wonder band from the early 00s. Yes just as generic as that sentence is, the band's sound was equally forgettable and the band itself is forgotten about nowadays.

My sacrifice uses the mellow soft rock soft voice inoffensive style with vague references to religion. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure why it got so popular but it was huge in 2001 and 2002.

Here's the link to the video

Retro saturdays and love don't cost a thing by J.Lo

Why love don't cost a thing? I firmly believe it's Jennifer Lopez's most popular song as a solo artist. When it came out it was on the radio frequently for months and then years. Every car ride would gurantee that song would come on even if it was just a trip to food 4 less

The intro and the main beat is extremely catchy among with the chrous and the lyrics. The whole song is addicting when you think about it. The music video is just the right touch of sexy(if you don't see the ending)

If you never heard it here's the link to the video which I highly suggest you listen to

Retro fridays and hurricane chris

If your (likely) not familar with hurricane chris, he was a one hit rapper from the mid 00's(actually he had 2 hits but they came out at the same time). His biggest hit was aye bay bay followed by hand clap

There isn't much to say about hurricane chris, he came in 2006 and was a sensation then just as quick as he burst onto the scene, he was gone, never to be remembered except for me

The hand clap song still gets people moving if you blast it just like in 2006

Retro fridays and nickleback how you remind me

If you were alive in the early 2000's you have heard the song how you remind me by nickleback. It was everywhere and I do mean everywhere

The mall, kmart, someone driving by in a car, your neighbor's dog. You could not escape from the song as it seemed to own your soul. Kids my age would make fun of it and the majority legitimately hated it but there was a small group that pretended to hate it in public but behind closed doors they were singing along to every word

I didn't like it because it's simple manufactured rock but every time I hear it I go back to the early 2000s
Here's link to the video

My mom and sister come back on thursday morning

They have been gone since late feb (about 4 days before my sister's bday) so it has almost been 3 months since I seen them. Originally they went to nebraska to see my grandpa in the hospital(they saw him on his last 2 days) then to his wake then my grandpa was flown to mexico to his home town

My mom and sister and aunts and their kids all went by plane as one of his last wishes was for them to feed the entire small town. So there was that then a wake and the funeral. Since my mom was already in mexico she decided to have dental work done as it's cheaper but still quality work

That is the main reason why they have been gone for so long but now they come back this week and it'll be good to see them again

Retro saturdays and koosh ball

There isn't much to say about a koosh ball as it's a pretty simple toy. A ball with dangly soft sticks as I like to call them, it makes a kooosh sound if you throw it hard at a wall or your little brother or your friend that's riding by on a bike. These were everywhere at kbtoys and were cheap so often times little kids would have some small wars with these. Yes it would hurt to get hit in the face with one

I never owned one despite them being $1.39 as I preferred bouncy balls and hot wheels but now I have an urge to own a koosh ball

Retro saturdays and the creepy crawly bug maker

I never owned one of these but that didn't stop me from wanting one. The one thing I remember most is the commercial and the way the announcer says kkkkkkreeeeeeeeppppyyy krrawlllers(yes like that). To little kid me a little box that you use to make your own bugs was so cool

Sure they were rubber and probably didn't last long but I would have loved to make lots of spiders and worms and use them as rampaging monsters while my hot wheels cars would be the innocent people running away. I would also use boxes as buildings. using your imagination and you could have some fun with this toy

I'm not sure how much it's worth nowadays for a creepy crawly bug maker but I hope it's somewhat reasonable so I could get one in a couple of years and pretend I'm a little kid

Retro fridays and the simpsons arcade game

Released in the early 90's at the hay day of simpsons mania(yes they were extremely popular in the early 90s) the simpsons arcade is a simple beat'em up game but the charm lies in it's gameplay. The controls are easy to master with only a jump and an attack button.

The game itself is addicting especially when played with 3 other players. Yes it has co-op and the simpsons family is playable except for maggie. Everyone always wanted to be bart or homer. There was nothing more fun then playing with 3 strange kids and trying to beat them game. Sometimes you would get the right vibe with other kids and it became more then a game

You shared a moment. I know I did one time I finally beat it. It was me and 3 other boys and about $5 on me that I was determined to spend in order to see and beat the last boss. We pooled our money after some of us ran out just to keep the group together. Kids stopped trying to form a line to play and instead they watched because according to them this is the farthest anyone has ever gone in the game

The graphics are detailed and they help the game look like an episode of the tv show. The sound effects and music is still stuck in my head all these years later. Oh I forgot my story, yeah the 4 of us actually beat the game and it has a sweet ending( I wont spoil it for you). The game holds up well and is a must play. It's on the xbox live market place unless you time travel to the 90's where it was everywhere

Retro fridays and link's awakening DX

Why the DX version aka the color enhanced version that came out later instead of the original black and white version? I just have much more nostalgia with the gameboy color re release especially compared to the original

Link's awkaening is the sequel to the legend of zelda: a link to the past(super nintendo) and it was released in the early 90's for the game boy(yes the big brick one). At the time of it's release it was praised for being an actual non watered down zelda game that is just as good as it's console brothers

The story is that link is on a ship that wrecks thanks to a sudden storm, he wakes up on a mysterious island and is given to the goal to wake the wind fish as the way to escape the island. You do this by beating 8 bosses to aquire 8 musical instruments that wake the sleeping fish

It's like octo transformers or a band actually. The DX has gorgeous color graphics that still hold up today and a photographer that takes your picture at different events. You can see them in a photo album or print them out with a gameboy printer

Oh and there's an extra optional color dungeon (you need a gameboy color or advance to play it). Even though this post is about the DX version, the original black and white version is still a great game

It's amazing how different things can be a year later

Last year at this time I was incredibly stressed with job hunting and where to apply next and why I couldn't get a job. I also got rejected as a writer for an online site and I would go to goodwill twice or thrice a week just to see what I could find since I had a lot of spare time

I used to walk from the 99 cents store and sit on a curb in front of goodwill and just wait until it opened at 9am. To pass the time I would listen to nirvana while writing in journal. It was mostly about how things can't get any worse or how things got like this. Old age(nevermind outtake version) by nirvana is what I would listen to everytime sometimes on repeat

It is incredibly depressing and at the time it fit my mood. Now that I listen to it I think back to those times and how much better things are now. I have my current job which I like because my boss is nice and friendly and the location is close by. My mom got some dental work done

I don't have to stress about job hunting and I actually enjoy life. The only bad thing is that my grandpa died and it is tragic. I wish he would have lived a little bit longer so I could see him and he could be proud of me in person. Oh and me and my dad are going to split the cost and get a cheap used car(I want a early 90's ford taurus)

Things are finally starting to turn my way
