Just a quick update on me

I have spent the past 2 days furiously applying at various places. I have applied at like 12 different jobs like chuck e cheese's,taco bell, carl's jr,targets, walmarts, mimi's cafe and other ones I forgot (I think that number is off and it might be higher) so I'm hoping to get a call soon. That's all I been pretty much doing besides hw and yes I have a boring life

Do you ever feel like a big loser

Because that's how I feel right now. This morning my decided to ruin my day by comparing me to my cousin who went to a for profit school for 6 months then lied to my mom about how little it cost her(not true) and how much she currently earns(a little more then minimum wage) but my mom belives everyone except for me and uses it against me. This is where things got heavy, she said I'm doing nothing in life and I should be embarassed to exist(I do). I am currently at the library printing out an application for a different dollar tree and 99 cents store. Apparently both of my parents are against me since my mom also made up the length of time I been going to school and said I was rude for saying she was wrong(she is) so the holidays are going to be awkward and I won't be going to the dinner table

I feel like a big loser because of my age and that I haven't had a real job and I can't seem to get one no matter how hard I try and I'm supposed to be at an age where I'm settled down in life because all my cousins and friends are. Also my mom blames me for not being able to get a job even though she told me to not go to interviews for carls jr and a gas station when I could have gone and gotten hired at those 2 places. She also thinks it's 1992 and jobs are easy and plentiful to get.

So I am even more stressed out then usual and just feel worthless and it doesn't help that yesterday my dad said his company would closing in 3 months so I am under more pressure to get a job which is why it frustrates me that I can't get one. Yes I have tried mcdonalds in 2012 and even they have a personality survey on their application. In the meantime I applied at a taco bell and 3 targets yesterday and got an email this morning that my tb application is being looked at.

No I am not against working in fast food and I have already applied at various places but had bad luck like missing a phone call from del taco or mcdonalds. The only one who judges where I work at is my mom and I currently don't care what she thinks of if I work at say a mcdonalds or wendy's or carls jr or taco bell. She says's it's my life but she complains about applying at certain places like a gas station

I needed to vent and didn't mean to end up posting an essay but I do feel so alone right now in the world and helpless. I'm just hoping something good happens because my mom blames me for everything such as bad ecnomomy and bad job market

We live in a time where a dodge ram gets 29 mpg

That is amazing to me, because it wasn't that long ago that small family cars were getting MPG in the upper 20's to low 30's and now this heavy beastly truck is getting similar mpg while being shaped like a brick. Here's a search of the jetta so you can see for yourself. I used to think that 25 mpg was the magic number and each year trucks would slowly creep up to 30mpg, with the 1st one getting to 30 mpg would have a huge marketing campaign. Well dodge sure did race out to the lead in such a short amount of time. It still seems weird that a full size truck gets almost 30 mpg

I am selling my mini tablet

By which I mean it's my mini polaroid 4.3 inch tablet, yes it's that small(insert innuendo here). I got it in august and I got tired of it. Mostly because of the touchscreen(it's resistive and not captive) and the keyboard's autocorrect library is non existent. I will use the money from selling it and buy a android phone like a galaxy s3 and use that as a mini tablet. If your interested, you can bid on it here and it's currently at 99 cents. I realized that I only wanted it for it's small size(yes someone has a dirty mind) for putting in my fanny pack and taking notes and maybe playing games

Retro saturdays and moesha

I don't remember much about the tv show moesha so I don't know why I am posting this. I remember it was on UPN(RIP) and when it would go to commercials there would be a "coming soon on moesha" and she was played by singer brandy who kobe bryant took to his prom. Anyways I always find that show boring but I half expect to hear a "next on moesha" every sunday afternoon

Retro saturdays and diddy kong racing

Diddy kong racing is a kart racing game just like super mario kart 64 but with a few changes. Some levels let you drive a plane or hovercraft, there is an adventure mode where you earn balloons to unlock more levels and drive around in a over world. The thing I remember most was playing it at sears and then renting an n64 and dkr at hollywood video. I spent about 5 hours playing each of the 3 days I had it. I loved the music in the cave level and the music in the race against wizpig who was a cheap piece of bacon(not literally) even if I could never beat him. I'm tempted to play it again since I have it on my wii and the ds version

Retro fridays and T2: The Arcade Game

"No way jose" that's how I was introduced to this game thanks to the arcade speaking at me(my name isn't jose btw). I of course played it and I sucked at it but anyways T2 the arcade game is a fixed FPS where you shoot at terminators throughout different levels. Of course I could never get past level 2 and I still can't nowadays.

Retro fridays and Mister Rogers Neighborhood

Growing up I didn't have cable but I did have Mr. Rogers neighborhood. The one thing I remember most was the theme music and how he started off every episode in the same manner. I'm not sure if he would take of his shoes and sweater or something similar but he always hung something on a closet and crossed his legs. I also remember the neighborhood of make believe and daniel tiger(the dad of the current cartoon version) and king friday. Also Mr. Rogers never got mad and he accepted everyone as they were. That is the definition of a great person and I miss him dearly. I wish I could be half the person Fred Rogers was

I forgot to mention how my dd's interview went on tuesday

I really forgot today was thursday and thought it was monday, anyways the interview at dd's went well. They asked me a lot of questions like "in your previous jobs how have you handled rude customers" and I answered calmly but with passion. The lady said she would show my application to the store manager so I hope I get a call back

Tomorrow is back to the future day

By which I mean it's the date in back to the future 2 that marty and doc time travel to. Yes it's already the future as envisioned in bttf2 and no hoverboards don't exist and neither do flying cars and pontiac has yet to re open dealerships nor do our shoes have self tying laces or our clothes are self drying. The cubs are still on track to win the world series and we can talk to people on our tvs.

Here's some more things the bttf2 future got right, tvs are big and widescreened, the news drone is something some companies are looking to use a drone for and it is possible to already happen, the kids in the 80's cafe talk about video games not using controllers(kinect). there is a jaws 19 trailer, the glasses that marty's kids wear are very similar to google glasses

I like how the world see's this an event, I will most likely go to twin pine mall tomorrow(it's close to my house) and pretend it's 1985 which is funny because the parking lot still looks very similar. The only difference is the photo huts are gone with the 80's and the jcpenny is replaced by a 24 hour fitness. I hope it isn't crowded though

The newest simpsons episode was a great halloween episode

In the world of the simpsons, halloween only takes place in the treehouse of horror episodes which is weird because they celebrate real holidays like V Day (I choo choo choose you) and fake ones like whacking day(oh whacking day oh whacking day) so this episode was a little different. Yes after all these years there's still something new in the simpsons.

It is an actual episode that takes place before and on halloween but it's not a treehouse of horror. It starts off with homer setting up an extravagant halloween display because apparently all the other houses on the block turn off the lights and skip halloween. There is a 4th wall breaking moment when homer chats with ned about the next treehouse of horror.

The skeletons are melted so the family heads to one of those temporary halloween stores which are branded pop up stores also apu is the owner and calls himself a-boo which actually sounds pretty cool. Homer in typical homer fashion gets 3 employees fired and they swear revenge on him.

Somehow the family has enough money to go to a halloween haunt theme park in the manner of knott's scary farm or six flags magic mountain, I say this because homer keeps bringing up how expensive tickets were. Lisa acts tough but she quickly gets scared and the park has to stop in order for staff to put a scared blanket on her. Sadly everything halloween related gets to her so homer is forced to take down all his decorations.

On halloween night the fired employees come to the simpson house to scare revenge them although only homer and lisa are home because bart, maggie and marge went to a different town where the houses actually give out candy. However there is a security guard that doesn't let them pass. Back at the house, homer and lisa hide out in the attic which is where she overcomes her fear and they use various christmas and thankgiving and halloween decorations to escape onto the roof where homer sets off fireworks. These alert the roaming costumed aldults(they come out onto the streets at night) and the ex exmployees get arrested

I miss trick or treating

I used to do it every year when I was little and I would give anything to be 10 again and go trick or treating. I had a cool orange pumpkin bucket and I would go close to my house and walk for blocks and blocks just getting candy. I would always go with my brother and cousins so we had our own little group. I had a pumpkin flashlight too and a glow stick so I was visible across the block. We would try to maximize our candy ratio for a good haul. There was always 2 houses that had good haunted houses and they would give out good candy at the end and they are still there

I remember seeing the various costumes and my favorite was a jack from jack in the box. My best haul was getting a kingsize payday and snickers and reese's at one house. Oh and the cops would patrol around to keep things safe and you could take pictures with them(I did and still have it). There was a lot of kids trick or treating and it was fun and safe. It's sad how almost no houses now have no halloween decorations and there's much less kids that trick or treat

I got an interview at didi's discount

Just like that, I applied 14 days ago according to indeed but it feels like less. If your wondering, didi's is owned by ross and it's similar to it or marshal's or tj maxx. My interview is on tuesday at 9am so I hope I do well

Retro fridays and wwf smackdown 2

I clearly remember getting wwf smackdown 2 when it was new at bestbuy. I rushed home and put into my playstation and I marked out big time for J.R.'s intro. The intro video is pretty nifty too. Anyways the roster of wrestlers blows away the original and the gameplay is still solid. I like that you could throw people out of the ring with a body back drop. The season mode has a great story mode that runs for awhile however here's the only negative to this game. The loading times, they can go as long as 2 mins and there is frequent loading especially in season mode where you can't just skip to your match.

It's still a good game especially with creatve a ppv and create a stable and editing the rankings so a certain wrestler can battle for a title.

Today is the 12th anniversary of the steve bartman game

I vividly remember watching it and feeling the horror as the crowd of people went to catch the foul ball. No one ended up catching it but one fan named steve bartman took the blame since he was the closest to it. He is seen as the scapegoat because moises alou looked like he was going get the out but instead the marlins scored some runs in the inning.

I blame alex gonzales for turning into adam dunn on defense which he should have ended the ending and spared bartman but no. Also the cubs weren't clutch and pretty much gave up after the failed moises alou catch.

Retro saturdays and Rival Turf

In case you never heard of rival turf(which is highly likely) it was a side scrolling beat'em up game for the snes and I don't remember when it was released. I also don't remember when or how I got it(I believe my dad got it for cheap at a swapmeet) but anyways onto the game. It's surprising addictive and has solid gameplay although the AI is pretty cheap at times. I never beat it even though I would play it every sunday(no cable and I got tired of my hotwheels) because it got hard towards the end and the bosses would become even more cheap. I did finally beat it years later on my psp and I used an unlimited lives cheat

But I got to say, it wasn't worth it to put all that time and effort for a simple picture with the end. I highly recommend you get past the cheesy label and play this game at least once. Even the music is so 90's it's cool

Retro fridays and the nutty professor

The 1st time I saw this movie was a taped vhs copy from my cousin. The thing that stood out most to me was professor klump falling asleep on the couch and drowning in the sand. Ok that and the buddy love transformation. Now that I think about it, this movie is pretty meh but nostalgia props it up. Seeing eddie murphy play lots of characters is great especially the dinner scene and young pre fame dave chappelle is nice too. Jada Pinkett Smith is sweet in her role as the pretty lady "2" guys are chasing after.

Retro fridays and flubber

I first saw flubber in theaters and I don't remember which one it was although I think it was the one that used to be near the whittwood mall(RIP). I didn't even realize it was a remake. I got the flubber issue of disney's adventures and I knew I had to see this movie so i did. Robin williams is the only reason to watch this movie(RIP) and shooter mcgavin too and of course the flubber itself. I didn't care that it was good or bad, the antics of the green goo is what sells the movie

The MLB playoffs have weird matchups

For example, look at the royals and astros series. The astros have been in the national league for years and the royals have been bad for decades so the only way these teams could meet in the post season was in the post season which was highly unlikely. Yet here they are in the 1st round. It's the same with the blue jays and rangers. Both of these teams have been bad for lots of seasons in the 90's and 00's but this time things worked out well and both of them won their division

Something good happened yesterday

So if you have been reading my previous entries then you know this has been a pretty bad week for me (and for reasons I didn't blog about) so yesterday I could have used a pick me up which is exactly what happened. Around 2:20pm pacific time I go an email from a representative of state farm which mentions that they liked my resume and to schedule a phone interview. I picked monday morning so I hope to do well in this phone interview and hopefully be a state farm intern.

I thought this would take up a lot more words but in the meantime I will watch MLB playoffs and write down potential questions to ask and ones I may get asked so I will be prepared and not be caught off guard monday. Anyways as ironic as it seems, I do have sales experience whether it be from rental property management(my 1st job) or selling myself at interviews or selling on CL and ebay and yard sales. I know how to sell and how to talk to people. I just have to sell myself well on this interview

I been on an applying spree thanks to indeed

Ok I'll start off with a little short story, goodwill isn't hiring anymore(I know because I asked) so I left more disappointed then someone playing devil may cry 2. So I tried CL at home and that was a bust but then indeed gave me some results I could work with. I already got rejected an income tax job because I don't have a bachelor's degree. I applied at a different target, panera bread(which changed the layout and made it easier to apply) farmer's insurance, Didi's, cafeteria worker at a hospital,a desk job at an office and another desk job. I still have more places to apply at

I only stopped because I'm working on a essay that needs my undivided attention and I currently have writer's block on it

Goodwill is hiring

Ok let me recap my day first, after being disappointed from my trip to city hall I decided to go to the library to fill then print out the job applications. However it didn't open until noon so I made a mini plan to walk to mcdonalds and eat breakfast there then walk to 99 cents store(checking for hot wheels) then target(again hot wheels) then vons(hot wheels and magazines) then finally to the library. I would print it out then get stamps and envelopes at the post office(it's close to target and on my way home) then send it in and have my applications get ignored by city workers.

Got that? well I was also going to go to goodwill and everything I mentioned did happen, however and this is a big HOW, is that I been using my nes controller wallet (I made it out of a broken nes controller) for the past 4 months as my main wallet or daily driver wallet so I didn't have my library card with me. I didn't realize this till I was almost there so this bad day kept getting worse and also it was a bust everywhere else I went. Things took a turn for the better when I saw the posted sign at goodwill "now hiring, inquire within" so I went and it was like black friday at walmart.

The line to pay was out the door so there was no possible way I was going to get in touch with any employees, oh and a cashier kept paging for help but no one came. That's how busy it was. Anyways I'll go tomorrow morning when it opens in order to actually catch the cashier/managers when they are not busy. Before I do go to goodwill I'll also turn in an application at trader's joes

So I don't know what to do know

The trip to city hall was a bust since the workers there are lazy and there was no applications. I have to go to the library and fill out the pdf application online then print it out(my printer lacks ink) and I can turn that in or mail it in which is what I will most likely do

I tried CL and that was slow so later on I'll try snagajob and if not then I'll wonder what I did to deserve this in a manner similar to...well there isn't a movie or tv show scene I could remember that is similar to what I am going through right now so I'll just use this picture to convoy my emotions

The blue jays stadium feels so 90's

By which I mean rogers centre. Maybe it's because the last time the blue jays were in the playoffs was in the early 90's or maybe because the uniforms and stadium hasn't changed much color wise since then. I love it, the metrodome was another stadium that was stuck in a timewarp. I can imagine kirby puckett playing even as johan santana was being an ace. Anyways it's good to see the blue jays in the playoffs and I hope songs from 1993 are played as a nod to their last playoff run. I won a blue jays hat in a school carnival sack race back in elementary school so I have some childhood nostalgia to them

On another front, I am angels fan and it was a good run, they lost today so they came up short and didn't make the playoffs which is amazing because a month ago they were left for dead. Oh well, here's to next year and hopefully they make the playoffs. I'll be rooting for the pirates and dodgers in the playoffs

Retro fridays and troy mcclure

"Hi I'm troy mcclure, you might remember me from..." that's usually how he introduced himself and it made an impact on many of us. It was a running gag that he had a lot of film roles. Anyways I miss him dearly and he gives the early seasons a different view now that he isn't around(he's only in the background). Sadly the voice actor(phil hartman) was shot dead by his wife so we will never hear his voice again but I will always have the best of troy mcclure.

"Hi I'm troy mcclure, you might remember me from heaven"

Retro fridays and gameboy color

I remember when the gameboy color was announced and the pics were in nintendo power, it blew me away seeing the gameboy have color. When it came out I played it at best buy(link's awakening dx) and was amazed at how colorful the graphics were. I didn't get one until 2 years later. I did get link's awakening dx for my gameboy pocket when it came out and the lack of color kept eating at me. Until the day I got my gbc then I could go into the color dungeon and literally said "that's it". The gbc was a huge improvement over the other gameboys due to it's screen

It was reflective and had high contrast so there was less blurring and you could actually see the gameplay. I remember it was popular thanks to pokemon. Those early gbc games were hit and miss but my favorite was wario land 2 and tetris dx and rampage world tour

Sadly I sold my gbc to funcoland to buy ps1 games although I did get a gameboy advance shortly after. In the meantime I been looking for a cheap one for nostalgia reasons

Today is already pretty bad and some progress on me

First off Idk how or why but it ended up being pick on chris day. My adopted grandma said I'm skinny because I'm anorexic(I'm not and I love to eat) and I loved her so that brought my world down. Then my dad said I can't get a job because people look at my build and assume I can't lift 50 lbs(I can) and people get hired based on body type(being buff). I told him a lot of places I applied at don't involve heavy lifting so body type doesn't matter but he said no that's why companies don't hire me. There was more said but anyways I applied at coldstone at the brea mall(it was online and easy to do) and wabu grill in la mirada and saved some jobs on snagajob.

Tomorrow I will apply at a 99 cents store, a trader joe's and el pollo loco and ask at dunkin donuts about getting a job there. Anyways I left some stuff out so it was a lot worse then what I actually typed in here.

We have forgotten how to be social

I have been gone from facebook for 8 months and counting and many people would find it difficult to be away for so long but I found it surprisngly easy. Society as a whole relies on facebook to be social. I grew up in a time when being social was playing in the streets with your friends or hanging out after school and trading pokemon or going to the mall with your friends or just exploring the neighborhood as a pack in a similar manner to the guys in the movie sandlot. I blame facebook that made it ok to consider being on facebook as a way to socialize. I have excellent people skills and these don't shine through on fb, I am much socialable in person which is the way I grew up

So many people would rather like a picture on fb then go to say a library and join a reading club. Idk about you but I don't need facebook to have a life or friends.

Job schedule always gets to me

By which I mean mmmmy flexibility on my hours. I am willing to write down free from 6am to midnight or later and that doesn't help me. Can you imagine having the much a clear schedule and this also includes weekends and holidays. In jobs where you don't need much expercience like at target or walmart I thought this would help my case but it hasn't. One time I had classes 2 days a week that started at 8am and I applied at a company where they were hiring over night workers. I was willing to work from 8pm to 4am(8 hours) then go to class that started 4 hours later. I didn't get that job and I was actually dispointed as I was looking foward to the tiring schedule.

That's how far I am willing to go to get a job, I am both a morning and night person(waking up at 5am and going to bed after midnight) and don't need much sleep. I am like a robot
