I been on an applying roll

Sure the title isn't grammatically correct but then again this isn't english class and it's legible. Today I applied at 3 walmarts and 3 subways(including one inside one of the walmarts). I still have yet to do a questionnaire for walmart but I hope I get a call back from one of those stores. In the meantime I'll try to apply at vons near one of the walmarts and yougurt land near the same walmart

Today is the 20th anniversary of selena's death

In case you only know selena gomez, google selena and look up the first result that comes up. Anyways selena was a young mexican pop singer that got shot by her ex fanclub owner named yolanda. She died on the way to the hospital. I truly wish selena was still alive, just to hear what kind of music she would be making. One day I hope to use her "how you doing houston" line at an appropriate moment but in the meantime I will keep listening to dreaming of you or amor prohibido or caracha.

The birthday cake frappucino from starbucks is yum yum

The raspberry whip cream makes the vanilla bean taste just like a blended birthday cake. It's a shame it's going away after monday because this would make a great addition to the frappucino line. I understand it's to celebrate 20 years of the frappucino's life but it's a tease to have it for a very limited time. Anyways I highly recommend it even if you can tell it's mostly vanilla bean frappucino.

Retro fridays and sony walkman

I grew up in a time with CD players but cassette players were still popular. The sony walkman is the one I would see most often. I still have some childhood cassettes and walkman(mine is red and slim) and nothing beats the nostalgia of walking with a cassette player. It gets a lot of attention. However as much as I like the walkman, I'm glad MP3s exist. It's not fun listening to skipping music or having to unwind that little bit of tape with a pen and there's the crackling sound.

The return of retro fridays and blockbuster video

I feel a little better(even though things haven't changed much) so I thought i bring back my retro days(sorry blockbuster isn't coming back though). I didn't go to blockbuster video much because hollywood video had better prices on 5 day rentals. The one deal breaker was gameboy games at blockbuster. I would rent pokemon yellow and trade good pokemon to my blue version. The late fees were outrageous as was the censoring of movies. Somethinig about blockbuster makes me miss the 90's. I think it's the way I would rent movies based on the covers and what looked cool or maybe it was the whole atmosphere of the store. Sadly BB is no more but I still miss it dearly even if I wasn't a frequent customer. Netflix and amazon prime just don't feel the same as walking into a store and seeing the rows of shelves of movies

I applied at walmart and buffalo wild wings and AT&T

Last night I was ready and prepared to take the questionnaire at walmart.com so I applied and............there was no questionnaire for me to take. I still submitted my application and all but without the questionnaire it feels like a hollow victory. This morning I got a email from jobsradar that AT&T wireless was hiring nearby and so is buffalo wild wings. I applied to both and they were pretty simple. No questionnaires, just resume uploading and answering questions about what would you do if and math questions. I hope I get a call back, later on I will apply at another different walmart

Today is the 4th anniversary of my dogg's death

yes I spelled it as dogg and not dog. Anyways he was born in sept 3 1998 and lived until march 26 2011 making him 12 years old. He was called friskey(after the cat food) but I would call him best friend or boof boof. I wish he was still around so he could meet my sister. Here's a pic from his last year of life. He was fat because he liked all sorts of food and he had a cut on his paw

I applied at toys r us and hot topic

This time I was more prepared for TRU and feel like I aced the questionnaire. I also applied at hot topic(that doesn't have a questionnaire) and will keep my fingers crossed for a call back from either one. Tomorrow afternoon I'll try my luck with the walmart questionnaire. In the mean time I am listing some stuff on ebay that I never really used and is just sitting in a drawer

The puente hills mall website needs to update the job listings

Some of the jobs have a start date of early march to late feb. That's pretty outdated as it's almost april. Anyways tomorrow I'll apply at toys r us that's at the mall and hot topic and then search snagajob.com to check for new listings and then feel hopeless/frustrated that I can't get a job then wonder where my life is going. Yep it's a pretty exciting day

I seem to have the best job hunting luck on CL

"Luck" is subjective here since I don't have a job but the majority of my recent interviews have come from craigslist. I used to have semi decent luck with snagajob but lately it's been a let down, same with indeed.com. I don't know why this is a blog entry. This is how my mind works

Amy from the big bang theory has changed a lot over the years

Watch her early episodes like the one where the girls have a slumber party. Amy talks with a monotone robotic voice and mannerisms, where in the past 2 or 3 seasons she seems more like a normal woman. It's almost like having friends changed her life for the better and she stopped being an awkward loner. Even sheldon has changed since season 1 although he's still a control freak. Speaking of changed, whatever happened to leslie winkle and priya? they just vanished and were never heard from again. It would be nice to have one of them back but that would make the already crowded main cast even more crowded(amy, bernadette, penny, raj, howard, sheldon, leonard and stuart). I'll keep watching this show until it ends just for the guys

Just some things I done

I applied at pizza hut in la mirada and H&R block at the quad of whittier and 2 different subways and other places I'm forgetting. I'm working on downsizing my portfolio pictures in order to add them to college central network's portfolio and I'm thinking of applying at 22 century media as a photographer and/or writer and hope that internship leads to a job. Rite aide is hiring cashiers at the quad but I tried to apply online and it's as if the position doesn't exist so I'll have to go in person. Next time I go to Dunkin Donuts(yes there is one in my town here in southern california) I'll ask the cashier if fast food experience is needed to work there and then try to get an application or talk to a manager.

UPDATE:  I uploaded small pictures to my portfolio on college central network(they have a 1000x1000 size limit) so I hope companies will take a look at it. I went to DD and it was packed so I couldn't ask a cashier about getting a job. I am unsure on where to apply next and I feel like exercised almost all my options.

ihop is having a job fair tomorrow

I won't be going due to the fact I don't have enough change for the bus(It's near lax and I prefer taking a bus and not spending a lot of $ on gas on something I may or may not get rejected) But I hope someone can take advantage of this and go to the job fair

The wonder years 103-106

The first episode I saw takes place in dec 1972. Norma graduates from college and kevin tries to get a raise in order to buy winnie a $100 cashmere sweater for christmas($559 in today's money). Jack tries to get charlie to get a loan from the bank so they could open their business. Charlie however backs out of the deal and kevin meets him awkwardly at the mall. Norma talks to the bank and gets jack the loan by telling them what kind of man he is. Kevin gets a 50 cents raise and has to work christmas eve but he doesn't mind as he gets winnie the sweater. She gives him a bread album(I never heard of them) and he doesn't like it but hides his true feelings.    He sure did go through a lot of trouble for that sweater and she just cops out and gives him an album.

The 2nd episode is about wayne and bonnie. Wayne is a completely different person (this is a guy who vacuumed kevin's hamster) and he is serious about his relationship with bonnie. He plans a family night on new year's eve and kevin could invite winnie to come along too. Unfortunately for kevin, the cool senior's are having a party at a ski condo that day and that's where he wants to go. He begrudgingly tags along with winnie and finds wayne missing. Bonnie shows up and tells kevin, her and wayne are through because she still loves her baby daddy. Kevin and winnie go looking for wayne and find him doing laundry at a laundromat. They watch the ball drop and the couple kiss while says it's a new start for everyone.

This next episode is a filler and is easily explained. Kevin's car is breaking down more often so he gets his friend chuck to talk to his gf whose dad owns a used car dealership. Chuck dumps alice but she takes an interest in kevin and is willing to get him a great deal on a austin healy. Chuck gets upset over this and soon they are back together again and kevin is back to his old car.

The 4th episode I saw was also a filler episode. There is a rumor at school that the rolling stones are going to play at a bar about an hour away. Jack and norma have to go square dancing with another couple so kevin is forbidden from moving his car. Kevin takes jack's car and he gets pulled over by the cops but winnie makes up a fake excuse and they get a warning. He gets mad when he finds the bar empty and accidentally backs up into a car. Worried about getting in trouble, kevin goes home and wonders what kind of punishment he'll get. Just then his parents come home and the other couple accidentally smash into jack's car freeing kevin from the guilt. Norma also confesses she had a fender bender with it and kevin says it was a great night even though he didn't see the rolling stones.

This last season is having more and more episodes that were thrown together. The good episodes aren't as common as in season 2 or 3. It's like the writers mailed it in

I always chuckle a little when I hear a "courtney love love had kurt cobain killed" theory

I was doing some thinking about it and here's what I came up with. C.Love could have easily just let kurt OD (most noticeably the rome incident) and just gone "oh I was sleeping and I woke up and tried to save him". She didn't have to do much in order for him to die. I always counter those courtney had kurt killed theories in a smart ass way with a dave grohl had kurt killed theory. Kurt always criticized everything dave did and tried to control him. He wouldn't let him branch out as a solo artist or write songs or do much of anything. Dave wanted to move onto bigger things but as long as kurt was around he was stuck. Guess who has made the most money and become a bigger musician since kurt's death. it certainly isn't courtney. After all, no one will suspect that dave did it and everyone would blame courtney.  Despite what this post says, I firmly believe that k.cobain killed himself because of his stomach problems. Yes he is dead and gone and he wont come back to life if you solve the mystery

I got a rejection call from office depot

I applied last week(or was it this week? I don't remember) at office depot for a print consultant. Which is pretty much the people that work behind the printing area. I got a call that says I need printing experience. I have gotten rejected by lots of girls over my short life but getting rejected by a company hurts a lot more. To add more injury to my insult, I got a rejection email too. I applied for a photoshop gig and got a reply on monday asking if I was interested and I said yes and I still haven't heard back. It''s like fate is taunting me and trolling me. I have a small list of places to apply and then it's back to my usual checking of CL and indeed and checking out my friend's links and well there isn't much I could do after that

The wonder years 100-102

The first episode I saw is a wayne episode. He starts dating an older coworker named bonnie(they both work at norcom). Wayne invites her over for dinner where she drops enough bombshells for a war. She's 23(a big deal in 1973 to date someone older) and has been divorced and has a 6 month old son. Wayne is serious about the relationship so he moves in with her. In the meantime winnie is still upset at kevin over the previous episode(the whole had sex rumor) and he tries to win her back but since he has bad luck, winnie has a study date. Somehow kevin meets a new girl in town named cindy He invites her to the norcom picnic and finds out she is 12 so he gives her the big teddy bear that was meant for winnie. He is at his wit's end and talks to winnie who somehow forgives him.  I wish real girls were like that in that they can suddenly give you a 2nd chance. Also this show has a really good quote by kevin  It was that simple. And it was that complex. Love can kill you. It can tear you apart. But if you're very lucky... it can bring you back together. Sometimes love is unexpected... and unpredictable. And sometimes... you just have to go with your heart. And hope for the best.

The 2nd episode I saw is about kevin's job. Kevin somehow has a hard time meeting winnie because 2 nights a week is apparently too time consuming to have a gf. His boss also gives him a hard time and a lot of this episode is spent observing kevin making various deliveries to scary houses and even a dead man. He also has a rivalry with a competing Italian restaurant.     I don't know why they hate each other since one is chinese food and the other is italian. It's not like a customer is going to buy from who ever shows up at the door first.  Anyways he keeps calling winnie and he gets his car towed and winnie cancels the date they had planned. Just when he is about to quit, kevin has to make one last delivery. At first it seems like a prank but winnie comes out of nowhere and lets him know this is the only way they can spend time together.  This was a really sweet episode even if it was a little bland

The 3rd episode is about the SATS. Kevin and his friends are stressing out because it decides the fate of their lives. Meanwhile jack gets a review from his job where it says he does ok. He has had enough and decides to quit and wants to buy a furniture company with an ex employee. At first norma isn't onboard with the idea but she gets convinced and jack finally seals the deal. Kevin is inspired by his dad and realizes that the test won't control his life as seen in this quote "I knew that this was just one test in thousands I'd be taking in my life. None of them final, none of them irrevocable. And the way I saw it, maybe life was a risk. But this time, I was ready"

It's going to be a sad day when the undertaker retires

He's been in the wwe so long that his upcoming opponent bray wyatt was very little when the undertaker debuted. The undertaker has outlasted various tv shows and music trends and magazines and even some people(he's been wrestling longer then 2pac being alive). He's been the one constant in my life along with the simpsons. I don't get to see him much recently but I still mark out when he makes an appearance on smackdown or raw. I am truly going to miss the undertaker when he's gone

Kurt cobain overshadows every interview that dave grohl does

Especially if it's for a magazine, the k.cobain specter is always there just lurking. Every interview in a magazine always has a question or mention of k.cobain. No matter how much d.grohl wants to distance himself from his past, it keeps coming back to haunt him.

The wonder years 97-99

The first episode I saw is pretty forgettable, kevin's history teacher posts a bulletin board ad for someone to paint her house. Kevin accepts it because he thinks it'll be easy and he has the hots for her. She gives him $500 which is a lot of money for 1973 and kevin thinks he'll be rich after he buys supplies. He recruits seth green and his goons to help him out and kevin also pays them. He see's his fortune vanish as he has to keep buying more and more paint. His hired help quits on him and then he learns the teacher sold the house to another man. Kevin realizes he was taken advantage of by a pretty lady.

The 2nd episode I saw is also forgettable and I was only half paying attention because of it. The Mcgovern/Nixon race is heating up and winnie feels strongly for Mcgovern because of a speech a speaker made. Kevin thinks mike(the speaker) only wants winnie and is using her to get votes. He tries to sneak into mike's office but runs into Mcgovern. It all ends up for nothing as nixon wins and mike was using winnie's passion in getting young people to vote.

The 3rd episode I saw was about kevin and winnie's relationship. The guys in the locker room tease him about going all the way. Kevin is going to be home alone so he invites winnie over under the guise of studying. They end up on the couch and reminisce about the past and they both fall asleep. Kevin freaks out and winnie's parents say they trust him. His guy friends ask him how it went and he tells them to use their imagination. This spreads rumors throughout the school, upsetting winnie. Kevin goes to her house later that night and she tells him he can't fix the unfix-able and things will never be the same.

It's been awhile since there's been a memorable episode of the wonder years. These episodes feel like they were written at 2am and thrown together.

Hindsight has gone off the deep end

The tv show on VH1 not the human nature. I haven't payed much attention in the past 3/4 episodes and the latest one is where becca wishes she was back in the present instead of 1995. Not matter how much she tried to change the past, it still ended up happening. Her and lolly still have the break up that has already happened in what is now an alternative universe. However lolly got mad because of becca's memory that it did happen in that now alternative future. Yes it's enough to make  your head hurt but the show is still must watch tv.

Do you ever feel like you have hit a wall in life?

Because that is exactly how I feel right now. Both mentally and almost literally. I'm tired of applying at various places(I applied at other places I don't mention in my blog) with no results even if I follow up in person. I feel like I'm at a dead end in life. In case your wondering my photography skills aren't that good as I think they are and it's the same with my photoshop skills and that is going nowhere. This might seem ironic as I am working on my autobiography. Yes I have looked at jobs in other towns and yes I applied at places as a photo editor and no I have had no luck. Yes I know someone might say "keep trying, you'll find something soon" but I haven't found anything and it's been awhile of keeping on trying. The only notable place I haven't tried is trader joes and well I'll have to check out some of the sites my friend listed in an email then hope for the best.

I been reading heavier then heaven by charles cross

Which is the story of kurt cobain. I got it at a swapmeet years ago for 50 cents. The ending is incredibly depressing and makes you feel like your in 1994 especially with tracy maruader being there. You can tell late 1993 and early 1994 that kurt takes a turn and he keeps getting worse. It's just sad how he withdrawals more and more. One day I hope to visit that mansion and the park where the cermony was held on april 10 1994. I do wish there was more nirvana songs out but alas I'll make do with what is out there.

The wonder years season 94-96

The first episode I saw is also the 1st episode of the last season(6). Kevin is now in 11th grade and his life seems to be going well. He has winnie and paul is class president and he has a new friend named jeff(played by giovanni ribsi). The school mascot is stolen so kevin tries to make a good impression by stealing the mascot from the rival school. Among other new changes is that kevin is now the delivery boy for mr chong and has a giant sticker on his car. Wayne now works at norcom and his buddy wart comes back from vietnam. At first he is seen as a hero until someone yells murderer at him during a h.s football game. He goes off on his own where he promptly removes his clothes except his underwear. Kevin realizes this is the perfect moment to steal the rival school's owl but he waits. Wayne comes by and wart says nothing seems to fit anymore. Wayne isn't a jerk and decides to give him his shirt but wart isn't talking about clothes. This episode also has a new theme song and new intro that shows memorable stuff from the 60's

The 2nd episode is about the arnold men going to the traditional family fishing spot for the last time. The bait shop's owner is dead and the route to the spot is now closed and overgrown with trees. That doesn't stop jack from taking the station wagon offroad. Kevin is upset he still gets treated like a little kid and the boys fight over some minor things and they cause a fire. The next day wayne catches a fish and the men help out and they all figure out why they came there in the first place. To say goodbye to some treasured memories.

The 3rd episode I saw is complete filler and is easily skipped. I didn't pay much attention because of how forgettable it is. The arnold family is at a church for jack's bosses daughter's wedding. Kevin gets drunk and jack doesn't dance with norma but she dances with other men. Wayne tells kevin the bride didn't wait for the groom for sex.

So I didn't get a call back from the smoothie bar

I'm pretty used to rejection but it still hurts since it's my loss. Anyways I'm not sure what I'll do now

Sunday, March 8, 2015

I got an interview tomorrow at a smoothie/juice bar inside a LA fitness

Yep I applied there earlier in the week and got a call for an interview for tomorrow. Like always I will plan on nailing the interview and hope to get a call back. Other then that things have been pretty much the same. I have never been inside an LA fitness or gym either thanks to my kurt cobain like build. I'm not sure how I do it but I seem to pull interviews out of a hat since december. I usually go through long dry spells between interviews but my last one was 2 weeks ago not 2 months ago. I honestly hope this job hunt ends soon as it starts to feel like some kind of joke

Just some life progress

I applied at rePlanet recycling( I go there frequently) and a target that's the 2nd closest to me and olive garden as a to go specialist. I didn't stop there and also applied at chili's as a host and a to go specialist. I hope I get a call back but I will continue to throw my resume out there. A friend sent me an email with lots of links to job search websites so I will try out 1 or 2 tomorrow.  Yes I am getting tired/frustrated of job hunting but at least I don't give up. I am also reading a goosebumps book(more and more tales to give you goosebumps) and watching the clippers game after finishing up dual survival.

The wonder years 91-93

The first episode I saw was about karen and micheal getting married.Norma wants a traditional marriage while the young couple want a hippie wedding. Micheal tells kevin the couple wants to move to alaska after the wedding while karen doesn't tell her parents. They all go out for dinner and a hippie delivers a cake to the family that says alaska or bust. The cat being out of the bag the family accepts the decision. At the wedding it was a happy ending and the couple drive off in their VW microbus

The 2nd episode I saw was about summer. It's barely been 2 days and jack already wants kevin to get a summer job. Kevin rants to paul who mentions he has work tomorrow and he can help him get a job at the restaurant he works at. He blows paul off and goes to get a shake at the malt shop and finds winnie working there. He tries to get her to ditch her shift but she declines. Kevin gets hired at the place where paul works. When kevin is cleaning his room he finds a card from cara, his summer fling at the lake from early in the 5th season. On the way to work, kevin decides to go to the lake with paul in tow. Cara asks kevin what he's doing there especially since kevin didn't respond to her christmas card. The guys sleep in kevin's car and the next day cara confesses that she has a boyfriend. Kevin wonders why he made the trip as he goes to get a shake from winnie.

The next episode is about kevin and winnie. At the burger joint winnie randomly gets upset at kevin for a minor gesture he makes when getting relish. She goes off into another booth with her friends while kevin reminisces about the relationship and we get to see clips from previous episodes. His friends and wayne try to help him out to no success. At the end they kiss and make up in the parking lot

Tuesday, March 3, 2015

the wonder years 88-90

Kevin and his friends make plans to sneak into the theater to see the movie carnal knowledge. However paul can't make it because he's having dinner with his mom's old college room mate and her daughter. Kevin feels like paul is being selfish and putting himself first before their friendship. Kevin meets the daughter(named beth) and makes one last plea with him. Paul stays behind and the guys get caught. Paul tells kevin he had his 1st sexual encounter with beth but he doesn't let kevin know everything. Kevin of course is confused and thinks paul is bragging. He spills the beans to his friends at lunch and then he and paul have a talk. Paul says he can't have a casual relationship. Kevin drives paul to the airport to say bye to beth and he realizes how they are good friends(paul and kevin).

The 2nd episode I saw was about the boys having the house to themselves for the weekend. Wayne also decides to leave so kevin invites the guys over for some poker. Of course they invite girls who invite more people and the get together becomes a rager. The next morning kevin tries to clean up but his parents come home and blame wayne for the mess who takes the fall for kevin. In return, kevin washes wayne's car for him.

The 3rd episode I saw was about karen. She comes back in the middle of the night in a rainstorm. She wants her old room back and spills the beans about her and micheal(david schwimmer) having a fight. She gets the guys to get her stuff the next day. Micheal reveals the reason for the fight is because he wants to get married and karen rejected the idea of marriage. The next day he shows up in the rain at the arnold house and karen rejects him again. Pitching a tent in the front yard, micheal waits her out and karen decides to get married.

The wonder years 85-87

The first episode I saw was about winnie and kevin. There is a new swedish exchange student and kevin tries to get winnie to put in a good word for him. She agrees to do it only if she talks to her crush for her. Things go as planned and the new couples go to a school dance on a double date together. Things get tense between kevin and winnie and they get ditched by their dates. Kevin and winnie have a slow dance together and old feelings start to rekindle. They go off in kevin's car to the town makeout spot. They both feel the attraction towards each other and kevin goes to kiss winnie only he gets her in the eye and she does the same to him. They both realize they need more time and they shouldn't be in such a hurry.

The 2nd episode I saw is quickly forgettable. The school's basketball team is having a great season lead by star player bobby riddle. Kevin and the rest of his school get caught up in the craze. Jack tells kevin to worry more about his homework and they go to a game together. Kevin is annoyed then embarrassed when the team loses and when bobby wants to be left alone. On the ride home jack tells kevin "it's not easy being a hero" and he realizes that jack is talking about himself and not bobby.

The 3rd episode takes place at lunch where kevin talks about what a typical lunch period is like at his school. Kevin is asked by winnie to donate blood and his friend ricky has a 1000 word essay to do. Paul makes a mess of his pants and chuck wants to ask a girl out on a date. Wayne tries to win $20 by finding out the name of a student that never talks. Kevin is peer pressured by 3 bullies(lead by a young seth green) to ditch school to see the devil in miss jones. They agree to do it then get caught by a teacher. Suddenly winnie cooper comes out of nowhere and asks them if they want to donate blood so they donate to avoid getting punished.
