I had a surprise interview at the 99 cents store

Right after I typed up my previous blog I was putting my laptop away when I got a call for an interview at 1:30pm at the 99 cents store. I quickly shaved my face and ate lunch then went on my way.  Here's something I should mention first, yesterday I had an iced coffee from panera bread. For those that haven't tried it, the iced coffee is extremely strong, so much so that I didn't finish it. I also had coffee this morning that wasn't decaf (caff coffee?) so I was feeling extremely confident. Liquor might been seen as liquid courage but to me caffeine is courage in a cup.

Ok now you know how I felt well almost, my past self would have been extremely nervous and considered not showing up but my today self was on a roll. I marched right into the store and asked a cashier about the manager and she told me to go see another cashier so I did. That cashier told me to go in the back where the manager was next to the women's restroom. Yep I had an employee knock for me and she was busy with an interview. So I waited and waited and waited(15 mins in total) then my big shot came. The interview room had no AC and the process was over pretty quickly(no P.E. jokes). She kept focusing on my availability and I had a great flexible schedule. She signed my appilcation(yes it was a paper one) and told me she would contact the district manager and set up a date for a 2nd interview.

This is the furthest I gone since I been job hunting and I hope this leads to me getting hired. I can almost taste it how it would be like to work at that 99 cents store.

I spent hours watching the baltimore riots yesterday on CNN

Ok I know someone will be all "LOL why watch CNN when you can watch ___" and I'll counter with, it's the only news channel I have and the local news weren't covering the riots all day. Besides I never watch CNN and don't care about political influences.  Ok now that I got that out of the way, I watched from around 3pm to 10pm on and off and it was hypnotizing. Some things I saw were: a guy getting mad that traffic was blocked and he sped up and almost ran over protestors, people running out of a minivan with garbage bags to loot a store, A suv backing up into a flaming car, a car just heading into a fire and staying there(maybe they committed suicide?, cops making a wall around a firetruck, a lady with a baby getting out of a burning building, people throwing things at a fire.

It was an eventful day for the city of baltimore and it is still ongoing. I had major deja vu to the rodney king riots however these are different. First off I firmly believe these riots are because of police brutality not because of skin color. The cops actually stayed in the city and made sure things didn't get even more out of hand.

I'll miss josh hamilton

I think I'm one of the few angels fans that will miss him. I was hoping he could come back strong this season but it wasn't meant to be. I liked him as a person(the whole overcoming drugs problem) and was happy to see him succeed in the MLB. He will be happier in texas with his buddies but I already miss him. I also miss dwight howard. I'm not sure what's up with So Cal that causes stars recently to play bad and not stay for long. Zack greinke is another star and so is mark teixera and hanley ramirez. They are good examples of players that didn't stay long and had meh years here. Anyways I got off topic but I'll miss the presence josh had at the plate even if he became Vlad 2.0 last season and swung at everything

Fast food is getting spicy

It's a subtle arm race but burger places are gearing up. Mcdonald's has the habanero ranch quarter pounder meanwhile carl's jr has the el diablo with ghost pepper sauce. Jack in the box brought back the blazin chicken sandwich also with ghost peper sauce and wendy's brought out a new chicken sandwich with ghost pepper sauce. Even subway offers sriracha sauce, it's interesting to see how things will escalate and who will blink first. I will just enjoy the spicy food

Mcdonalds needs Mcdonuts

I was doing some thinking and if Mcdonald's came out with doughnuts aka Mcdoughnut then they would rule all of the breakfast stores. Check out how long the line at the drive thru gets in the morning at a mcds, then imagine it even longer if mcds sold a traditional breakfast staple like donuts. Mcds would easily crush Dunkin Donuts and rule over taco bell. Someone needs to tell the mcds CEO ASAP to sell donuts as they are sitting on a goldmine that is going untapped

The wonder years series season finale final 2 episodes 114-115

So it's down to this, all of those hours spent watching the wonder years and the end is in sight. These 2 episodes are both the end of season 6 and the series and fred savage's career(I kid) and these wonder years blog entries. I'm not sure what I'll watch next, maybe random episodes of the simpsons?(I have the 1st 20 seasons) or goosebumps the tv show(I have all the episodes) or MMPR(I also have all the episodes). So I'll get onto the show

The 1st episode starts off with kevin quiting his job at the factory his dad now owns, yes he got heard overnight in the show and it wasn't seen onscreen. He's had enough of his dad and his friends are planning on a road trip to nowhere. Sadly he doesn't go with them and chuck and giovani ribisi leave him behind(which is also a metaphor for fred savage's acting career). Kevin goes off on his own to the hotel/pool where winnie works as a lifeguard. I should mention that the first 5 mins or so are of kevin and winnie awkwardly sitting in a car at makeout point while she does or doesn't break up with him. Ok back to the story, she gets him a job as a waiter and he wins some money playing poker with the other waiters. They can't see each other much(winnie and kevin) because of how busy they are. One night fate decides to give kevin and the viewers one last scene of hearbreak to end the show. Kevin wins big money at a poker game and goes to tell winnie because apparently he can't go on without telling her about the money. He finds her making out with a tall blonde surfer guy then you can almost feel his heart breaking and the episode ends

The 2nd part picks up where the previous one left off, kevin gets mad and in his rage he bets all his money and his car then fate lovingly has him lose it all. Like a tv infomercial, wait there's more! kevin punches the guy winnie kissed then quits his job and has to hitch hike home. On the road, kevin is pitched up by a nice elderly couple who also picked up winnie cooper because that's how fate works for kevin. She got fired because of what he did(I don't know how that works either) and they get into a huge argument that gets them kicked out of the car(no not while it's moving). Fate keeps haunting kevin so of course it starts to rain and they take shelter in a barn. They talk about how they have changed and they will probably not end up together as a couple, winnie doesn't want their childhood relationship to end and kevin busts out this great quote and they start kissing. It is implied they had sex but only the writers know. "Once upon a time, there was a girl I knew, who lived across the street. Brown hair, brown eyes. When she smiled, I smiled. When she cried, I cried. Every single thing that ever happened to me that mattered, in some way had to do with her. That day, Winnie and I promised each other that no matter what, that we'd always be together. It was a promise full of passion and truth and wisdom. It was the kind of promise that can only come from the hearts of the very young"

If the show would have ended there that would have been good too but it keeps going. The next day they show up at the 4th of july parade holding hands. This scene is shot in uptown whittier aka my hometown. Paul is there and so is kevin's family(I don't remember if karen was there) then narrator kevin tells us what happened to everyone. His dad died pretty soon, paul went to harvard then became a lawyer, karen had a son that year who looks like kevin, his mom became a board chairman, wayne took over the family business after jack died 2 years later. Winnie went to art school in paris and here is where the waterworks start. Kevin was there to meet winnie at the airport when she returned although he brought along his wife and son. But wait there's more! kevin and jack are at the garage just chatting about him becoming a grandpa. The camera pans out while narrator kevin says this quote “Growing up happens in a heartbeat. One day you’re in diapers, the next day you’re gone. But the memories of childhood stay with you for the long haul.

We hear a little boy ask the narrator if he could play with him so he agrees with "I'll be right there" and the show ends just like that.  A lot of people thought kevin should have gotten married to winnie so they could have a happy ending but this show is about being realistic and life doesn't always work out the way you want it to. Kevin even mentions it with "life doesn't always turn out the way you want it" Yes others will feel gyped out that they watched a lot of episodes only to have it end that way.  I found a video of the parade scene and it also has the ending too. Watch it and have some tissues close by

I think I'm the only one that hasn't seen breaking bad or the walking dead

or games of thrones for that matter too. Yep that's correct, I haven't seen a single episode or part of an episode of those 3 shows. I don't do it because I'm try to be edgy and kool by not watching them, I simply don't remember what days those shows are on and I'm always watching something else. I don't hate the 3 of them either. I will eventually watch some episodes in a few years or so. Maybe I could make breaking bad or the walking dead episode write up similar to how I did one for the wonder years(speaking of which I'll post the series finale write up soon). For now though I don't know what people are talking about when they mention hal(aka bryan cranston) but it won't be long before I catch up to crowd

Fahrenheit 451 is slowly becoming true

Yes that book which you probably read in middle school(I did). I randomly decided to rent it from the library(yes I actually go there and fairly often too). The book came out in the 1953 and Ray Bradbury's vision of the future is kreepy at times(yes I typed it with a K). He predicted the 1 eyed mechanical snake that looks inside a person, earbuds and mp3 players. Robot doggs(even though they don't have 8 legs I can still buy one), smart tvs(that's what I assume the parlor walls are). People just not caring much about anything except violence and tabloids and how vapid and shallow people are. The one that is slowly becoming true is books are going extinct. Thanks to tablets and ereaders and our instant society, less books and magazines are made. Barnes and noble is the only bookstore around as borders and crown bookstore have gone down. Even some magazines have stopped being published like nintendo power and cosmo girl. Why wait for the newest issue of a magazine when you can buy it online the minute it's published. It's not illegal to own books but I hope they don't become a burden and then outlawed. If that happens I'll hoard my print media while the firemen try to find them

Yordona Ventura started another altercation today

I say another because he had "beef" with mike trout about 10 days ago which you can see and read here. To make a story short, I am an angels fan so I was watching that game. Yordona throws a pitch close to M.Trout who doesn't react to it at all. The next pitch, m.trout hits the ball up the middle for a single and almost hits yordona. While m.trout is jogging to 1st base, yordona is staring him down HARD. Yep m.trout didn't know why he was so upset and later albert pujols gets a hit that brings in m.trout. Yordona is at home plate staring even HARDER at m.trout but a.pujols backs him up. Apparently yordona thought m.trout tried to hit him on purpose with the ball which is LOLable. A player can't control where the ball goes once it's hit otherwise batting averages would go way up

Ok got that? good because today the royals played the white sox and yordona tried the same thing with adam eaton only for the benches to clear and a brawl to start. The MLB season is early but keep on eye on yordona and hopefully he doesn't keep up this whole getting mad for no reason thing because someone will eventually take offense to his act(most likely david ortiz)

When did it become cool to be a nerd?

I remember when I was little, being a nerd was like being a gazelle in a lion herd. You would get made fun of and/or possibly beaten up(yes people would get beaten up, it's not an urban legend). Back then the tale tell(yes I said it backwords) was wearing glasses. This would leave you open for the classic 4 eyes. Reading comic books also instantly made you a nerd, superman and batman were considered uncool reading material. Surprisingly, liking video games didn't make you a nerd nor did reading video game magazines. Comic book stores were obviously not as prevalent so you went in them in a similar manner to going to an adult bookstore, with shame and regret.

Nerds were as uncool as one could get and they certainly weren't "hot". Women weren't into you because you rolled the 20 sided dice or knew the dark night from darkwing. Something caused society to shift towards nerds. It suddenly became cool to wear glasses and like comic books. Even girls, the long time no way I'll be a nerd became nerds. To give you a better example, it's like computer science majors. Girls are far and few between and that major is seen as niche. What if it became extremely popular to major in computer science? that's how I feel about the whole "nerd" culture.

I blame the 1st xmen movie because that lead to the trend of having comic book movies. This lead to comic con becoming cool and now you won't get laughed at for wearing glasses or liking a comic book

The wonder years the last real episode

Yes this is the last real episode because after this is the 2 part series and season finale. This episode feels rushed together and almost like an afterthought. The arnold's go to norma's parents house because of her high school's 25th reunion. The in laws still don't like jack and they have a rottweiler that keeps randomly barking at kevin. I don't remember much of what happened because of how wooden and stiff the episode feels. Way to end the show on a high note guys. Oh yeah the episode does have a happy ending but you can easily skip this episode and you won't miss anything. The series so far is ending with a whimper.

I got an interview at my school's cafe

Well technically it's for sodexo since they are the ones that staff the cafe. Anyways the interview is on thursday at 2pm for the position of barista. Yes  the cafe also serves starbucks drinks. Like I always I hope I nail the interview and get a call back as this job would be extremely convenient for me.

Today is the 16th anniversary of the columbine shootings

Lost among other April 20th holidays is the Columbine School Shootings. It's something that has stayed with me throughout my life and I never forget it. For example, every time I go to a restroom at school and a fire alarm goes off, I half expect it to be a shooter. It scares me to be on campus with a shooter so much so that I scope out good hiding places and good ambush places in case someone tries to walk into the restroom. Hopefully no one goes crazy and shoots up a school because VT and sandy hook shootings are already too much.

April is already almost over

Where did the time go? It seems like just yesterday it was barely april and now may is upon us. I been meaning to post a "april will be over before you know it" entry but that snuck up on me. Anyways the interview at creamology yesterday turned out to be a group interview. The good part is that only 4 people(including me) showed up when it started so we had the undivided attention. It was almost like a sales pitch and I noticed I had the most flexible schedule out of the other potential employees. The 2 owners said they would start doing call backs this upcoming week and they would open in mid may.

On another note yesterday I google news'd kurt cobain and saw this new issue of rolling stone. I saw it today at stater bros but didn't buy it. I'll get it tomorrow at ralph's or target

Retro fridays and linkin park

Remember in the early 2000's when this song was on the radio and it was cool to like linkin park. In the end was always on the radio same with that crawling in my skin song. I still hear in the end on 4 different rock stations even though 2 of them are classic rock. When I see this album or hear the songs, I immediately think of those early 00's and nu metal

Retro fridays and tiger electronics handheld games

Growing up in the 90's these games were everywhere. There was lots of different types with some having 2 to 5 buttons. I found a mortal kombat one at a carwash and since then I keep looking for toys whenever I go. I also acquired a mighty max game and a sonic spinball. I keep a look out for the jurassic park and sonic ones. For those of us that didn't have a gameboy these were the next best thing

The one that is about to open at the whittwood town center in whittier. Anyways it's this saturday (april 18 ) from 12 pm to 3pm. I will be going early and hope to nail the interview like always. Here's the CL ad in case you want to see it.

I should start a crowdfunding to raise money for a scooter

Ok I was watching the ktla 5 news and there was a doctor being interviewed. He has a crowdfund in order to raise money for his research which lead to some gears in my head to turn. I thought to myself "I should start one to raise money for a vespa style scooter then I could apply at places that are further away". As my spirit grew I thought it would be pretty moochy and lame to just ask strangers for money. Which lead me to think I could edit/photoshop pictures for people in exchange for money. This way I'm getting some pictures to add to my portfolio and something unique to add to my resume while also getting paid for it and in return people will get high quality edited pictures at a fraction of the price without any attitude.

I will start this later on today and will post the link once I get one set up. This is the way my mind works, I quickly think up of a plan and take chances. Ironically while typing this blog I couldn't remember the term crowdfunding so I looked up kickfund and found kick starter. That is a site that funds creative projects which is what I plan on using it for. I hope things go well and I end up getting a $500-$600 scooter then I get a job and I live life somewhat normally instead of frantically worrying about applying at places.

The wonder years 110-112

The 1st episode takes place during a class field trip to Griffith Park Observatory(it's not called that in the show though) to see a total solar eclipse. Kevin and winnie are riding behind chuck and alice when they decide to play truth or dare and just like every teen show it doesn't end well. Somehow the question becomes "what's one thing you would change about your partner" which kevin tells winnie that he wouldn't change anything about her and she's really nice. This of course upsets her but things go full on volcano when alice blows up over chuck's answer (which I don't remember what it was). She moves up 4 seats and during a rest stop chuck gets left behind.

Winnie is trying to be a "bad" girl by throwing a spitball at the science teacher who doesn't believe her. At the gift shop she steals a hat then peer pressures kevin into doing something bad. He and some other bad boy throw a lit cherry bomb down a toilet, causing an explosion right when the eclipse happens. During this whole episode 2 girls dare another one(mary) to give a kiss to a guy named harlan. Actually they bet her $25 and since she's a future whore in the making she takes the offer. The 2 end up hitting it off and they become a new couple. Ok back to the story, on the way back home winnie confesses she actually paid for the hat somehow even though we didn't see her pay for it. Kevin is overjoyed because she is still perfect in his eyes.

The 2nd episode is complete filler and almost a waste of time. The majority of it is the guys playing poker, It can be summed up by this quote "Life is like a game of poker"

The 3rd episode is about the women. Since it's 1973, women are entering the workplace such as norma. She gets a full time office job to the surprise of the arnold men. Kevin is nervous about his SAT score then freaks out like a 12 year old girl when he see's how high winnie's score is. She gets a 1482 and kevin doesn't even congratulate her because apparently she is a genius that has been hiding her smarts. The guys decide to play a game of bowling against the 2 women to "settle" things. The women lose to spare kevin and jack's egos and kevin realizes that women with more power isn't such a bad thing.

I had a lot of coffee the past 2 days

Yesterday I had 3 (12 or 14 ounce) cups of folger's decaf coffee and today I had 2 cups of the same size. The simply smooth decaf is even more decaffeinated then usual. However the caffeine does add up over time.  All that coffee put me on edge and made me insecure and feel hopeless. So I tried simply hired and indeed which quickly ended up going nowhere same with CL. So I I planned to get a haircut this upcoming week and turning in an application at a local indie grocery store. I currently have a moptop but if I comb it then I look like I have rockabilly hair so I will get a tom cruise in MI2 style haircut. A mcdonald's near my house has a sign on the doors saying that their hiring for morning shifts and open interviews are on wednesdays from 4-5 pm. I already applied at that mcds in 2013 but through online and I'm strongly considering going on wednesday. The ironic thing is the greasy floor scares me the most at mcds

Kobe bryant has played for so long that...

some of his teammates are long retired. I worded that weirdly but watch an old laker game from the early to late 00's. For example I was watching game 4 of the 2005-06 playoffs against the suns and kobe is the only one on the lakers that is still playing. For the suns only boris diaw and james jones and amare stoudemire are still in league. Shawn marion is still playing but this is his final season.

Another example is the 2009-2010 nba finals against the celtics. Just look at the 2 teams and see how much things have changed. Only kobe is the still on the lakers and the majority of his teammates are out of the league. It's the same thing with the boston celtics with only 5 players from that team that are still in the league.

There are people today that don't know of a life without kobe. That's how long he has been playing. I hope he doesn't retire after next season because I'll miss him and he has a chance of being the last active 90's player.

Retro fridays and street sharks

Unlike everyone who remembers these, I didn't watch the show very much if at all. I would always change it to something else like eek the cat or mmpr or play super nintendo. My only memories of street sharks is the intro with the rollerblading said sharks and the toys. I always thought they were scary when I would walk by them at kb toys

Retro fridays and talking animal head sticks from the zoo

I'm not sure what the official name for these toys are but I'm sure they will trigger some sort of childhood nostalgia with the zoo. I remember I went to the LA Zoo in my 2nd or 3rd grade class and I got a flamingo one because it was cool to me. The little store where I got it was still there the last time I went back in feb. I'm not sure if the zoo still sells these since I didn't pay attention but these take me back to my childhood

Dual survival is again my favorite show

I used to watch it fairly often during season 1 and 2 when cody was still there. I stopped watching around season 3 then started watching again with the recent costa rica episode. My favorite character is matt because he seems like a hipster and hippie mix and because of his facial expressions. The rainforest one where they think they found a beach but the end up on sheer cliffs is amazing.

I always get a little happy when they find food like when matt found the red snapper on the island episodes. The recent snow ones have got to be demoralizing. Can you imagine being out in Wyoming(I been there but in the summer time) with nothing but snow and trees around you. The recent washington one is also pretty good. You can tell the guys preferred the trout over the mussels from the first night.

The flame broiler at the whittwood town center is hiring

On my way back from the library I walked by the FB and they had a handwritten sign on the window "hiring cashier & cook". I wasn't dressed at my best so I will go tomorrow to fill out an application. Also baskin robbins down the street has a "summer help wanted" sign in the window so I will also try that

Skinny shaming is real

Fat shaming is the one that grabs all the headlines and anger and outrage but skinny shaming is also real and more prevalent. Shaming just means your making fun of that person for their weight. I have a kurt cobain body type and everywhere I go I always hear snippy comments about my weight. However there is nobody making support groups and women being outraged someone can say your too skinny. When I walk by the beauty section at walmart or target I get dirty looks. At mccdonald's the cashiers don't think I could eat 2 combos by myself and assume it's for someone else. I always get the "you should eat more" lines when I already have a fast food heavy diet among with mexican food. I have a bag of quaker oats granola with me and I have a bag of skittles in my dresser drawer. Just like how it's not ok to make fun of someone for being overweight, it's not fun to be made fun of for being thin. This skinny shaming goes unnoticed in society though

Do you ever compare yourself to your peers and feel inadequate

Ok yes I know that title was full of innuendo but get your mind out of the gutter. When I wasn't on hiatus from failbook(yes I call it that for no reason) I would check people's job titles on fb and feel hopeless. I would always wonder how that person got that job and what I would have to do just to get a job. The majority of my fb friends are former h.s. classmates that are my age and younger just to give you an idea.

Yes I know I shouldn't compare myself to others but I always feel inadequate compared to others(again get your mind out of the gutter). I should have already be working a steady job or have graduated from college but I done neither and it frustrates/bums me out. This is why I took a still ongoing hiatus from fb but fb keeps sending me emails about statuses people have posted. I know this post comes off as whiny but I'm actually happy for my fb friends in their jobs.

I just wish something good would happen to me. I recently applied at sodexo for a barista position which I assume is at my school's cafe. I also applied at 2 goodwills and I'll try pollo loco tomorrow. Oh yeah tomorrow I will also turn in an application at trader joes and go to smart and final to fill one out & turn it in. On friday I will get a haircut(I currently have a mop top) then I am unsure of where to apply next. Ah I forgot little cesar's, yeah I'll apply there online today or tomorrow. Ok after that I am really unsure of where to apply next. I'll keep trolling(lurking kind of trolling meaning) the gigs section of CL because photoshop editing gigs pop up on a frequent basis. That's one of the few places I do have great experience at.

I like to thank whoever is reading this as it's my (held back) way of venting some of my frustration I have with my seemingly hopeless life

I been playing retro game challenge lately

Well I already beat the 1st one awhile ago so I moved onto the translated 2nd game. If you haven't played any of them, you play retro nes style games with challenges in them. The story mode has you playing as a boy in the 80's who gets challenged by his friend's future self. Each game has a manual and your friend buys monthly magazines. You start off with one game that has 4 or 5 challenges that you complete one by one. Once you beat the game you move onto the next one and the beaten game is unlocked on the main menu for free play. It has a ninja gaiden and galaxa and 1942 and final fantasy clones based off the real games. My favorite is guardia quest since it plays like FF1. Retro game challenge 2 has more games with a pac man and tetris spoof. I stopped playing after I got to the FF2 spoof because it got too hard. I'll finish it eventually. If you have any interest in retro games or the nes or 80's arcade games or love a good challenge, then you must acquire retro game challenge 1 or 2 in any way possible. It is just that good

Tomorrow is opening day for MLB

Well technically it was today since I saw the cubs lose(way to blow it guys) wait, the guy in back to the future 2 in 2015 tells marty that no one was expecting the cubs to win after the terrible start they had. Maybe it looks like the cubs are fulfilling the movie prophecy.  There is going to be 3 games on espn and 1 or 2 on espn2 and the angles game on fsnwest so my day will be packed with baseball. I should have made this post back in september but the last time the angels made the playoffs before 2014 it was sweet. The 2009 ALDS against the boston red sox felt so good to watch. There was the fact the angles lost against boston in 2004,2007,2008 and 1986. The angels look quickly took a 2 games to nothing lead and here's where it got even sweeter. Before game 3 all the media talked about was how the red sox have history of coming back in the playoffs. They even had dave henderson throw out the 1st pitch to try to curse the angels(he broke their hearts in 1986). TBS was broadcasting the game and it felt like I was watching it on NESN because of all the pro boston talk with no mention of the angels. The announcers were acting like the red sox were up 2 to nothing not the other way around. They and the crowd were already making plans for a game 4 and were watching the game with a "meh we got this" especially when the angels were quickly down 5 to nothing.  The 9th inning is where the angels tied the game then had the winning runs. It felt so good to see the smug red sox fans watch in a daze.

Anyways I look foward to see how the angels do this year

I noticed that paul walker smiles a lot in the fast and the furious movies

I been watching the fast and the furious movies on tnt/tbs the past 3 days and no matter if it's in the fast and the furious or fast 5, paul walker smiles very frequently. That's how I like to remember how, as a gentle soul with a bright presence

http://www.etonline.com/media/photo/2013/12/24056362/640_paul_walker_131204.jpg

I'll miss aj lee

She retired suddenly on friday and I already miss her even though I saw her matches from this week. I like her theme song even if it is girly, I like how she wears converse instead of wrestling boots. I like her sassy t-shirts and the girly way she skips to the ring. I like how good of a wrestler she is and how small she is(yes even compared to other women wrestlers)which means you don't have to be huge to be a wrestler

Today is the 21st anniversary of kurt cobain's death

If you were born the day he died well congratulations as you are now old enough to legally drink. Yes I do wish K.Cobain was still alive just so he could bag on D.Grohl and hate today's music. I also wish there was more nirvana stuff(I already have a ton of bootleg songs). Anyways I scanned the newsweek magazine that came out after he died in 1994. It took me 6 tries to scan some pages and they still came out crooked but they are readable. It talks about his life and then some statistics about suicide, without further ado here's the scans of the magazine in case you wanted to buy it from ebay but don't want to pay big money for it. It goes from bottom to top so you should scroll all the way down

Retro fridays and papa roach

I'll be honest, I don't listen to much papa roach but in the early 00's my last resort was all over the radio. At school lots of guys knew all of the -tion words and would change up the lyrics with words like masturbation or nation or radiation. I know papa roach changed their sound and look to fit in with the times but to me it's always 2001 and last resort is on a permanent loop

Retro fridays and early 00's fashion

The one thing I most remember about the early 00's is the fashion for guys and by guys I mean middle school to college age. It was cool to wear dickies shorts or pants and sag them half way off your butt and wear a belt that has low hanging extra length. Top it off with a size small or medium skate shirt like spitfire or black label or world industries. It was also cool to spike your hair in a reverse circular motion. I miss those days, I still have some black label and spitfire tshirts. I couldn't find a good picture of the fashion so instead I'll post this link to a blink 182 video that has a good example of what I'm talking about.  I also forgot to mention high black socks and osirus shoes or ethenies shoes or any skate shoe actually.

Retro fridays and eminem

As weird as it is to say retro and eminem, that's the case with this post more specifically eminem from 1999-2003. I remember when the marshal mathers cd came out and it was cool to own it and talk about what a crazy guy M&M was(yeah he was called that). It seems like the song the real slim shady was on all the radio stations and I grew sick of it and wannabe rappers too. When the eminem show came out I first heard the song without me at a swapmeet. I thought it was the perfect song to write after a hiatus and is my most favorite eminem song. He is still rapping(I think, I haven't payed much attention) and I always prefer his early work to even his mid 00's and later material.

The wonder years 107-109

I held off on watching these episodes not because I'm getting towards the end of the series and I wish there was a 7th season

Anyways the 1st episode was centered around Jeff(giovani ribisi), kevin emphasizes his attitude and and mehness about life. Yeah it's not a real word but it's my blog not english class. He has a picture of a girl named juile in his locker but kevin thinks she's not real. At lunch winnie introduces a new girl(ann) to kevin and asks him if he knows any guys he can set them up as a couple. I'm not sure why but there is always a new girl in kevin's town and he always says the same "so how do you like it here" line. Jeff sits down to eat with his pals and he hits it off with ann. The 4some go to play mini golf and jeff suddenly has to leave in the middle of the "date". The next day he ditches school leaving kevin with a new lab partner. Kevin finds him at his apartment(with a pool) where jeff wants him to drive him to see juile in his old hometown(yeah jeff also is a new kid). Jeff leaves out the fact it's 110 miles away but kevin still drives him. At jeff's town kevin realizes that jeff is frustrated with leaving his old life behind. Jeff breaks up with julie(it was more touching in the episode) and the next day jeff starts his new life. He unpacks and puts more effort with ann.  Throughout this episode there is a running gag where jack tells kevin he needs to buy fastners for the gutters. Kevin keeps putting it off and at the end he just tells jack he loves him

The 2nd episode I saw was pretty forgettable and seems forced. Kevin is pretty good at wrestling during gym class so he draws the attention of mr clean(not the real one but it makes it more exciting). He invites kev to training sessions for the team. Kevin turns into an angsty 13 year old and complains about everything and doesn't try and makes excuses. Mr clean has had enough so he challenges kevin when they are alone and this puts kevin on the team. The day of the match kevin takes an early lead but he ended up losing in a blow out of points. However he doesn't get pinned which earns the respect of mr clean.

The 3rd episode I saw was also forgettable. Kevin's friends make a reappearance after vanishing in the past 2 episodes. Chuck is lonely and wants a date as he realizes he is a loser(his words). To plot convenience and because apparently there is a new kid every few episodes, there is a new girl in kevin and chuck's class. She's pretty and nice but has one big flaw. She has a huge nose but this doesn't bother chuck .There is a big scene where people make fun of her while she gives a presentation and chuck makes excuses to not take her to a dance then suddenly wants to take her. At the dance she takes a different guy as he got inspired by her presentation and saw past her nose

I look foward to fast 7 aka fast and furious 7 aka the fast and the furious 7

The names just keep getting shorter with each installment. Before you know it, Furious8 or Furi8 will be the tentative title. Anyways it will be the last movie that paul walker had a part in and that is incredibly depressing. His death will give the movie a the dark knight like effect but I would have seen it anyways if pw was still alive. I'm not sure when I'll see it(probably when it comes out on DVD) but I will not miss this movie. 2015 is going to be a great year for movies. There's already Furious 7 and the new terminator movie is going to come out and so is jurassic world and others I'm forgetting. I raise a toast to paul walker for his role in the fast and the furious movies
