Retro saturdays and the chrysler concorde

Unlike my previous posts, this will not be about the concorde, instead it will be about the price of the other cars mentioned in the ad.

This chrysler concord ad from 1993 is interesting. It pretty much explains why cheap 5 series and E classes have become more popular. A 300E in 1993(the modern day version is an E350) costs 42K back then which is 70K in today's money. A 525i costs 36K back then which is 58K in todays money. That is 11K more then it's modern day version(528i). This is why nowadays it is no big deal to drive or own a mercedes benz or bmw. The only ones that are "big balla status" are the AMG's and even then it's only if you get a new one. Luxury cars have gone down in price in 20 years while you get more for your (less) money. A E300 or E350 blow away a 1993 300E in everything except engineering costs
